Well we had our 5 year anniversary this last weekend and we decided to head to the twin cities in Minnesota. I live in Nebraska and we made it to our hotel on one tank of gas (462 miles). DIC said 28.7 mpg. After cruising through town and the miles back the total was 1031.8 miles. Avg mpg when we pulled back in our driveway said 25.4 .
Overall she ran great the whole trip except for an occassional tranny "slip"? When on the interstate at 74mph it would never happen but on the highway going 64 mph the tach would be at about 1800 then rev up to about 2200 for a few seconds then settle back down. This would happen every couple of minutes for about 90 miles. I have had the car since last september and this is the first time I have noticed it but it might be because i recently put exhaust on and you can easily hear it rev up. Is the tranny starting to go or am I is it a totally different problem? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!!

My tranny did that prior to getting DiabLew tuned. It went away afterward. Of course, I've read that a leaking valve body will also show the same behavior.
As for your mileage, the DIC will generally be optimistic by 1-2 MPG, but varies from car to car. The method way to determine mileage is the old-fashioned way...Fill it up, reset the tripometer, run it to empty, fill it up and divide the miles travelled by the number of gallons it took to fill the car.
My best mileage by that method was LA to Phx at a steady 65 MPH and no traffic. The DIC said 32.4 MPG while the actual was 30.1 MPG.

I drove to Florida from Central texas in April. It was about 1500ish miles. Overall I got 27mpg, calculating at the pump. I averaged about 75mph with no excessive speeding (got a ticket 5 hours into the trip)
