So if it's molded in and painted like it should be you can't really tell the difference.

I think that the tried and true cowl induction hood scoop would look great on these cars. I would keep it low like 2 to 3 inches though.

It's your car, but I think that FWD cars with hood scoops look like ***. There isn't one that you could put on that wouldn't look ricey. To my eye, I think the reason is proportion. RWD cars tend to have hoods that are longer than they are wide. This gives a "muscular" look when you add a scoop. FWD cars like ours typically have hoods that are wider than they are long. We got used to this look when Honda and Toyota started dumping their crap here decades ago. You add a scoop to a hood like that and it just looks like rice. The proportion is all wrong.

Just my .02.

I dont think FWD has anything to do with looks. I think a cowl would look BA on a monte.

It's really a matter of personal preference. I'm more decidedly "old school" in my tastes, so I'm not a big fan of styling gimmicks.

If it's blended in with the factory hood I think it would look alright, but like you said it's a matter of preference.

Stick on scoops are a no no and would def look ricey. You can't just put any scoop on there tho, because some scoops look like crap on certain models. Just be careful when picking and don't just pick one because you want one. Once you do it, there is really no turning back...
