It really hurt my heart to know our government didn't care about New Orleans and the Gulf coast. We pay taxes like everyone else. Where were they??? I was lucky, I only lost everything on our first floor. I drove the Grand Prix out of here. We loaded our truck with what we could (papers, dogs, some clothes) and left. My wife's family is from Arkansas so went there. A very small town, the catholic church let us live in a house they had and I worked in the catholic school to give back for what they gave us. I don't take anything for free. The whole town helped us and I'm very grateful. When we finally got home there was a lot of clean up luckily we were renters at that time so we had to move across the river. To the Westbank of New Orleans. I bought my first house.
It didn't flood here. We're blessed that we only lost things we could easily replace and not our loved ones. So all and all we who live in New Orleans have come a long way and we still have a long way to go. To keep our pride alive we have the Saints!!
