going from my 05 GXP that pulled an almost impossible 13.68 @102+ stock with 1500mi on it, to my 06' TBSS (rwd) that went 13.49 @102+, then driving my friend's G8GT stock you could noticably feel the difference.. If the driver's both nailed the gas at the same time there is NO CHANCE for a GXP. period. But congrats on the kill, try gettin one on video and prove us all wrong.

He knew about it before he seen it, but he asked the same thing everyone does, "Looks ok, but why?" Lol

I need to find another one to beat now, too.

A G8 GT weighs 4,096lbs. and a GXP weighs 3,682lbs. This is why it is a drivers race. Stock for stock it IS a very, very close race. One isn't better than the other.

In a stock GXP, that's movin' sir, congrats.

Also, I'm not sure why 1/4 mile times are negated in this conversation. If driven properly the gt is faster, nothing saying the OP didn't get the drop on someone who either wasn't fully into it or made a mistake.

So true. When I first drove an LS1 car back in the day, I thought my old L98-powered '88 GTA was faster from a dead-stop. Then I punched it from a 60 MPH role and learned the turth.

I think the reason that the LT1/L98 cars feel stronger is because you get peak torque at a really low RPM (2200-2400), then it dies off fast by about 4500 RPM. The LSx cars get their peak torque at higher RPMs, but the the torque curve is very flat, so you get less of a sensation of "pull" off-idle.

I've noticed this, too. I think cars feel slower from the driver seat because of the fact that you're holding on to the steering wheel, which changes your seating position from that of a passenger just sitting back.

I'm just talking out of my *** on that one because I can't think of any other reason why this would be so.

I hope you are joking 94SS. Weight makes a HUGE difference. I raced a G8 GT before most of my mods on the GXP and won. Anything can happen on the street. Who knows maybe the guy didn't know how to drive his car?

what is with the g8 gt worship going on here lol?? but mike you are completely correct. the g8 is a heavier car. from a dig, yes the g8 gt will win every time. but from a roll its gonna be an even race. maybe the g8 gt has a better chance to win. but really close to even

G8 GT weights 3995lb's GP GXP weights 3600lb's....I'm looking at the
brochure right now......UMMMMM maybe Canadian is different from the States..lol

But still 395lb's different and how big the driver is.

I was using Car and Driver articles for the specifications. BTW-I am NOT saying a G8 GT is not a nice car. I just do not think it is that much better than a GXP. Especially mine... lol... J/K...
