Default Me v STI...

Okay guys, I have a friend who has recently acquired a 2007 Subaru WRX STI and we were talking trash about each others cars last night when he was showing it to me... All he has done to it is a cold air intake and exhaust... The question is do you all think I can take him?

STi has better gearing, less weight and about the same power. You'll have a good view of his tail lights.

Race him from a 30mph roll and you'll be suprised. The newer ones aren't that fast.

ORLY?

Even my Legacy is a second faster to 100 than my GXP from a 30 roll, and it's 200 lbs heavier than the STi. (for disclosure purposes - Legacy in third for this pull and the GXP in second gear for the pull.)

I put my other set of 18's on the other day... I was just wondering if I could possibly pull it off...

Your telling me that a base model Legacy is faster then a LS4 by a full second? No way! I beat 2 STIs on the freeway with just a down pipe. Most people with stock LS4s will hit mid 14's in the 1/4 at 98-99 mph. The LS4 would have to catch up at some point.

After reading this, yo might be right.

GT 2010
0-60 in 5.7 sec
14.0@99.3MPH

WRX 2010
0-60 in 5.2
13.7@98.7MPH

The STI doesn't seem like a very good deal after reading both articals IMHO.
Looks like I'll eat my words

No prob. Subaru limited boost and torque limits in first and second gear for the LGT, so the "as tested" 0-60 times of 5.7 are higher than with a tune that eliminates the limits. Figure on the 0-60 being more in line with the WRX, maybe quicker since a tune can safely add another 5 lbs of boost.

No, the STi doesn't seem worth the extra 10 grand...but it has one hell of an aftermarket.

Watch the 2nd run. Thats me running a buddy's bone stock STI hatch. All I had was a K&N CAI. We were pretty even, but every time he shifted I pulled ahead untill about 110 then he started to pull me.

There is one problem with that... It will more than likely have to happen at a track because he is a cop.... Even better I guess!
