The latest customer I just finished up was more then happy when he picked up his truck. He had a lot of expletives when he was walking around talking about the paint, engine bay, interior, etc. It always makes me feel pretty damn good when someone expresses their appreciation for what I did for them. The truck itself was in pretty good shape minus all the contaminants that were stuck on the paint. The clay bar I was using was shot by the time it was all said and done. He works where there is a lot of dust which you will see from the engine bay. The paint wasn't in too bad of shape, just some typical swirls but the paint was pretty easy to work with. Here is what I all used.

-Interior was done first so I wiped down all the door panels and dash with Leather and Interior Cleaner
-Cleaned the inside of the windows with Glass Cleaner
-Dressed the door panels and dash with SVRT
-Swept out the truck
-Cleaned floor mats with All Purpose Cleaner
-Sprayed the carpet with Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner and let dwell for 5 minutes. Sprayed with hot water from my Bissell Auto then agitated with capet brush and extracted
-Dressed floor mats with SVRT
-For the outside I started by cleaning the rims with Green Wheel Cleaner and boars hair bush and cleaned the wheels and wheel wells with All Purpose Cleaner
-Foamed the truck with a mix of Car Shampoo and All Purpose Cleaner to strip the paint
-2 bucket wash with grit guards with a Car Shampoo and All Purpose Cleaner mix
-Sprayed the engine bay with All Purpose Cleaner and agitated that with the wheel well brush and sprayed it off
-Dried the truck with Great White Drying Towel and Detail Spray
-Clayed the truck with Adam's clay and Detail Spray as the lubricant
-Did the 2 step polishing with Swirl and Haze Remover followed by Fine Machine Polish
-Waterless Wash wipe down to get any remaining polish residue off
-Applied Machine Super Sealant. Wiped off after 45 minutes. 12 hours later did wipe down with Detail Spray
-Applied a coat of Brilliant Glaze
-Dressed the engine bay, tires, bed cover, and all other plastic trim with SVRT and In and Out Spray
-Sprayed Invisible Undercarriage Spray in the wheel wells

the customer just picked this one up a few hours ago and all she kept saying was oh my lol...she also said it was the cleanest she has ever seen it...im guessing she doesnt really have a clue what i had to all do to get it to that point but oh well...its money in my pocket and a new customer in the future....the customer lives on a farm and the interior smelled like one as well which was nice...i have never had an interior with the amount of stains this one had so that was my biggest challenge....the paint was in bad shape and some spots needed to be wet sanded or repainted so i worked out what i could..it came out looking pretty damn nice....here is the process

Cleaned the rims with Green Wheel Cleaner
Cleaned the tires and wheel wells with All Purpose Cleaner
Foamed down the vehicle with my foam gun that had Car Shampoo and All Purpose Cleaner mix to strip any wax off
Washed with 2 bucket method with Car Shampoo and All Purpose Cleaner mix
Dried with Detail Spray and Great White Drying Towel
Clayed entire vehicle with Detail Spray
Moved on to the interior which included wiping down the seats, dashboard, and door panels with Leather and Interior Cleaner
Dressed with SVRT
Swept out carpet and floor mats
Sprayed carpet and mats with Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner and let it dwell for a few minutes then agitated with carpet brush
Used my Bissell Auto Heat to soak the mats and carpet then extracted
Started polishing with Swirl and Haze Remover on an orange pad with my Flex 3401
Moved on to Fine Machine Polish on the white pad
Drivers door needed the Severe Swirl Remover and green pad on the cordless drill
Wiped down with Waterless Wash to remove an polish oils
Applied Machine Super Sealant
Dressed the engine bay with SVRT and In and Out Spray
Dressed the tires with SVRT and the wheel wells with Invisible Undercarriage Spray
Removed wax and gave a final wipe down with Detail Spray
Cleaned windows with Glass Cleaner

got to start my memorial day weekend off by cleaning up a friends truck...the outside wasnt bad at all since he only took it through touchless car washes and never did anything else outside of that...he said he tried waxing it and it took him 6 hours lol...there was still dried up wax in the jams that i had to get off...the interior was alright with just a few areas that needed some attention...sorry the before pics suck i had to try and use the video camera since my wife had my regular camera

here was the process

-Dressed the engine bay, tires, bed cover, and all other plastic trim with SVRT and In and Out Spray
-Sprayed Invisible Undercarriage Spray in the wheel wells

what are you using to clean under the hood with? also how are you getting everything off of the mud flaps and inner fender?

thanks...I use Adams All Purpose Cleaner to clean the engine...i spray it on everything then agitate with my brushes then spray off with a low pressure setting on my nozzle...i dress it with Adam's SVRT and In and Out Spray....the inner fender and mud flaps get the same All Purpose Cleaner and brush attack

for those of you with a weak stomach enter with caution...needless to say 11 hours later the owner has a new car....i didnt realize the paint had a little metallic flake in it until i was done...it was probably around 90% corrected by the time i made my passes....really was the biggest challenge ive had so far for a complete detail...this was a true beast to beauty detail

WOW, that Pilot was rough!

Awesome job as usual. I hope you get paid accordingly.

Just a thought. I see that you try to get polished/chrome exhaust tips shined up, but do you give any attention to bare metal exhaust ends?

Maybe it's just me but when you brush/scrub and detail inner fender wells, tires and splash guards my eye is drawn to the tailpipe.

Perhaps a light scuff with a 3M pad would remove most road grit and stains on the outside of the stainless steel (?) pipe. Just the exposed bits.

yeah i have done a few cars since that Honda Pilot but this thread seemed to lose interest so I stopped posting here. I have also switched my product line from Adams to a lot of different polishes, cleaners, waxes, etc.
