maf ?s
Keep in mind there were plenty of LT1 motors making way over 400 HP on their "little" 3" stock MAFs back in the pre-LS1 days.
So, while you may have a larger MAF available, I doubt there would be much benefit to throwing it on our little motor, like AB said.

There is actually quite a big difference between the stock gxp maf and other LS maf's out there. When NMP swapped to a larger maf he noticed a gain in topend power, granted he has an LS6 intake. My opinion is if you have a stock intake then use the stock maf but if you swap to an LS1/2/6 intake then there will be gains realized by the 85mm maf.
You need to retune your maf when swapping to a larger one because it has a different calibration. The computer translates the hertz reading given by the maf into an airflow number and uses that measurement to calculate fueling. Here's an example, at 8000 hz a stock 07 gxp sees 14.416 lbs/min of air. Now at the same hz a stock 07 TBSS sees 15.75 lbs/ min. That means if you swapped to a TBSS maf without retuning your initial tune will be lean because more air will be entering than the computer knows about.

I wish there was a way to avoid the 90* bend the leads into the TB. It has to be disasterious for airflow.
Just changing the MAF alone isn't worth it.
