Infinity Reference or JBL GTO would work better with the monsoon system. Kappa's are fairly large.

Thanks guys - interesting topics.
I'm especially looking for a system that can bump the lows and mids as hard (or harder) as monsoon (fully being aware that it's not as good as having a sub) but increases the quality and longevity of the system.

I guess while we're at it, what do people think of the jbl power series? I see very good feedback on it (compared to say GTO's).
Does anyone know the real power output of monsoon?

never used the JBL power series, as far as I know the monsoon amp is between 200-220 watts there abouts. Far less then 75 watts per channel if im not mistaken which is why i always recommend the lower power JBL speakers if your keeping the factory amp. I ran the JBL GTO speakers on my cobalt ss which had a 220watt factory pioneer amp and they sounded fantastic.

Thank you for the feedback gents.
Should I be using 4 ohm or 2 ohm for the 6x9's?
I've read different takes on what impedance they should be as allegedly the factory speakers are 4-ohm wired in parallel to get a 2 ohm impedance?

Not sure if anyone's interested but I replaced my dash speaker with a 3.5" infinity kappa speaker.
The Dash speaker magnet (And weight) is surprisingly on par with the Kappa.
However, the Kappa produces significantly more sound (It is 2 ohm vs. factory 4 ohm).
It really fills the car up with significantly more sound; obviously there is no real value added to the mids or lows with this speaker.
I can just barely get the speaker grille back on.
