Ive noticed my average economy on the dic will keep resetting itself from time to time.. and the gas mileage as gotten well.. quite shittier... then i got a rough idle while waiting at a light followed by a check engine light.. took it to auto zone got the code read came back as cylinder one misfire what could cause this?

simple, wire, coil or plug. swap them with another cylinder see if it follows. or just do plugs and wires. if its still there its prolly the coil. #1 is the cylinder closest to the drive belt at the front of the motor

+1 on the Plug and wires. I had the same but I think it was cyl 7.
Cause was bad plug changed all plugs issue gone.
MPG went up as well.

#1 reason for cyl 1 misfire and rough idle is the induction system is dirty,air filter, MAF sensor, throttlebody.
remove them,clean them and reinstall and preform idle re-learn.
