Default Secret to running in the low 13's

I was wondering what it would take to run in the low 13 second range (13 flat) in our cars. I know headers, intake, 3 inch exhaust, CAI, tune, and what else? I have been redefining my goals for my car and was wondering how much further I need to go in order to meet my goal. And please don't comment on my 22's!! I know they are a restriction and slow me down! Obviously when I race, they will not be on there. So with that said, what else do I need to do in order to reach my goal?

i say one of the big things is traction/launching and getting your 60' times down.

so. wait your telling me you cant hit low 13's now with those mods? i would have thought that those alone would have done it. i figure the headers are good for 20hp, cai for 5, dp and exhaust for about 5-8, and the tune should give another 10. so on the low end it would be 340 at the crank so close to 300 wheel hp. wow that 4 speed auto really kills our cars.

slicks, a cutout in the dp before the cat and the mods you have should get you in the low 13's

I agree! esp if you add in a small shot!!! I would also invest some money in a shift kit, dogbone/polymount and a trans cooler to help your transmission survive the beating. I think Rossko ran a 12.99 with only a 100 shot and the backseat taken out.

1.8 60ft times.
13.00 is setting the bar pretty high with a little 5.3 pulling a car that weighs about 3800lbs and a trans that just shifts into 3rd when crossing.

Torque is the key combined with the proper gearing. It's all about acceleration.. Wich our engine and trans lacks! 2nd gear pull is a joke. Even with my intake, and when I had headers. 3.69 gears would help 2nd gear pull but would make 1st gear traction impossible

We might not be ET kings but we do put up some pretty good mph.
With 1.8 rockers and a raised shiftpoint (6100-6200) downpipe and and K&N hittitng 105-107mph isn't too hard to do.

I'd dump the speaker box and amps and yank out the back seat. Beyond that, I agree with the posts above: Throw all of the bolt-ons you can at it, and get a built trans from TEP with 3.69 gears and a taller tire.

Stall and sticky tires with bolt ons should make it easy.

I would loose the box when I would race too. As far as a power adder, I do not want to go there. To much risk and I know myself, I would want to hit that damn button all the time!!!!
Also, I am going to wait til the tranny goes boom to start on that endeavor. So, with all that said, do you guys see it as a possibility? Is there anyway I can do it on street tires? So I should add a cutout, rockers, and what else to my list?

headers
poly dogbone mount(helps alot)
intake(ls1)
you dont need the 3 inch exhaust if you get a cutout BEFORE the cat. put that cash towards slicks! lol keep the magnaflow catback
CAI
tune
cutout
rockers
ANY weight reduction possible.

About 83% drivetrain loss. So 340 crank would come out to ~283 HP at the wheels.
