I have a switch to turn mine on/off. Unless I am on back roads or driving through town, I just leave it on. It's not hurting anything, especially when cruise is on.

Read through this:

Every once in a while it will set a check engine light if I forget to turn it back on through an ignition cycle. But no big deal, it goes off after a couple more cycles.
edit: after reading back through that, I see that several people were wanting a writeup on it. I apologize for letting that go, much has changed for me since then. right now my priority is the house I am building. Roof won't shingle itself, and I can't get the wife to do it, lol!
