Default SSC Springs on GXP

i put the SSC 1.7" lowering springs on my GXP last weekend (5 days ago) and have been checking the progress of them settling in. at first i wasn't very happy at all because it was barely lowered, but by the 2nd day it was noticeable. The springs are made for the regular GP and i didn't know if it was going to make my car sit high or make it super low, but i took a shot and went with it. I measured the height before i put them in, and like i said been watching it all week. its slowly going down, which is good, but its no where near the 1.7" mark yet. ill put up my before and current numbers and update it next weekend to see how it is after 2 weeks of sitting on them. Id realistically like to see 1.25-1.5 in the front and 1.25 in the rear

before

DF - 28 5/8"
PF - 28 1/4"

DR - 29 1/4"
PR - 29 1/4"

current (5 days after install, 3 days of driving)

DF - 27 3/4"
PF - 28 1/2"

DR - 28"
PR - 28 1/4"

so far..

DF - 7/8"
PF - 3/4"

DR - 1 1/4"
PR - 1"

i was afraid the 2.5/2.0 drop would be too much around here, especially in the winter. i didnt want it to become a snow plow and have to repaint the bumper every year.

did you get 2.5/2.0 out of it?

I was thinking 2 different companies. SSC only offers a 1.7/1.7 drop for the 04-07 body

Grand Prix - 04-07 - 1.7/1.7

canuck motorsports has the other sets, one for the GP one for GXP.

Grand Prix - 04-08 - 1.7/1.7
Grand Prix GXP - 04-08 - 2.5/2

Eibach currently doesn't list anything on their site for any grand prix from 04-08

Neither of the 2 i looked at list a 1.5 drop for this car in the rear. they do however list a 1.6 drop for the 97-03 body. That is unless they made a spring before that is now discontinued and replaced them with these. Or you guys have another companies springs in the car.

here is how the car sat the morning after i put them in. it has gone down from this pic. so myself and david are at the same height in the rear right now but he has a ton over me in the front. I just check as well, and i too have 26.5" tall tires all around.

"SSC" is Canuck Motorsports' wholesale brand/name. Canuck Motorsports is the main company.

I would know because I was the one who got the GXP kit made.

All "GXP" springs being shipped are 2.5/1.5. The 2.0 rear was an initial set that never made it since it still had some sag; I still have the 2.0 rear springs in the garage.

The reason the site has not been updated is due to Ray's son not doing well. He's the one who handles the site.

@dom87ss looks quite a bit lower then mine in your pic. I am assuming thats afterwards. MIne is 4x4 looking. Not as bad as my 06gt was though.

so its been over 2.5 weeks now since they have been installed, and as promised i took some new measurements. as well as some (not so good) pic of the car today.

current height

DF - 27.75"
PF - 27.25"

DR - 28"
PR - 28.25"

drop so far..

DF - 7/8"
PF - 1"

DR - 1 1/4"
PR - 1"

so it really hasnt gone down since i measured it last. id say if you want a slightly lower car these are the ticket. if you want a noticeably lower car, go with the GXP set. I wish i had gotten the GXP set.

rides good, very comparable to the stock ride. its a little stiffer, but nothing drastic, but when it goes into a corner it is a lot more sable and solid feeling.

i love the stance, perfect amount of drop. I live in Michigan and the only thing stopping me from lowering it is what you said about the car becoming a snow plow in the winter loll. But with these springs, it looks like i might be lowering it soon.

I like your stance as well. Thank you for the measurements and pics. I am looking to drop mine as well and am torn about how much.
