Default Removing speaker in center of dash gxp

So, i blew my center front speaker, and i got a new one from gm (only about $20) I see on the new speaker where there are two screws that go through it to mount it, but how do you take the plastic off? i dont want to start wrenching on it and snap it. Has anyone done this? Thanks!

It just pops off. Mine flew up on me but didn't damage anything. The old speaker is attached by two screws, one toward the window and the other is toward the front of the dash. It's easy and takes about 10 minutes to change. I replaced the factory one with a Polk audio 2 way 3.5" speaker. I can now hear out of it again. Sounds great. I paid 30 bucks for two of them but I can only use one. Hope this helps.

How does that speaker sound? Better than stock? I know Nate mentioned that changing out the center speaker makes a world of difference.

Any adapters needed to connect it or is it just plug and play?

Willing to sell that extra/spare Polk?

No adapters needed just use a 3 1/2'' speaker. I used JBL GTO327 and put a bass blocker on mine. sounds good. In fact i have the other still sitting in the box

it removes certain frequencies as to not blow your speakers. You put it on the positive side as close to the speaker as possible. It more or less removes the bass so you don't blow that speaker. it cost like $8. The speaker sounds much better.

Basicly. The 3 1/2'' isn't ment for bass any way that's why they blow. You can get them for any size speaker as most are specific to size of speaker. You use them if your not using some sort of x-over or amp. Just some cheap insurance to make them last a little longer.

If you have the Monsoon amp, the amp sends the proper signal to the speaker anyway. It's plug and play with the Monsoon systems. It sounds wayyyy better than the stock one, especially if you listen to talk radio. I sold the other speaker already. I got it off of E-Bay if you wanted to know.
