Trans Fluid Exchange or Just a Pan Drop...?

Trans Fluid Exchange or Just a Pan Drop...?
Ok so I've read some posts on here about how weak our transmissions are. My car's got 58k on it, and next weekend me and my girl are heading to Barnesville, GA (about a 5 hr trip for us) for a friend's wedding. I was planning on doing a full service to it next week before we went, as I haven't done one yet (only had the car for three-ish months). Now, what I'm concerned about is the good ol tranny fluid. What would you guys recommend doing? I want to maintain my car, yet I don't wanna blow a bunch of crap out into the system where it can clog up the valve body and generally wreak havoc- I'm trying not to replace the tranny til I have the money to beef it up but yet, I've never really heard anything bad out of a fluid exchange as opposed to a flush. So should I go with the exchange, or just drop the pan and change the filter?

I've done prolly 500+ flushed while working at the dealer and never had a single one come back with tranny issues. The key with a flush or exchange for that matter is to not wait til the tranny has a 125k on it and already having issues and expect a service to fix it.

how is hooking up a fluid exchanger machine, "far superior", to dropping the pan and actually replacing the filter?

With the mileage you have I would just drop the pan and change the filter. I did that with 48k on mine. Filled her up with Amsoil and put a ~12"x12" bar in plate tranny cooler in. I'm at 85k now and no issues and tranny temps dont even hit 200 anymore... Stock it would hit 217* on a hot summer day on the highway. Now pulling a 6x12ft trailer with a bedroom set in it at 80mph it only but up to 197*
