Quick question, hope it's not been asked a bazillions times.

Will any 4t65e-hd bolt up to the 5.3? I am looking for a used one to get by for cheapish.

I assume you are talking about the RWD 5.3 (or 4.8, 5.7, 6.0, 6.2, etc). It requires an adapter plate and the use of the LS4 specific 4T65e-HD for the starter provision, but is doable.

Bolt up, yes. Work, not easily. LS4 has a trans-axle mounted starter, unlike the 3800 engine cars. Also, if you have tapshift, you will need a transaxle with the tap shift provisions inside.
