Better mpg?
Hey guys recently I was getting 17 mpg. Cleaned out intake tb and found my maf was backwards. Now I'm at 18. Any mods that would improve mpg? Any body get results with a tune? Or am I never going to see any better?

if you do a cai and exhaust you will see a big gain in mpg. I was at like 37mpg on the highway with those two mods. In most cars if you do those two mods, you will see a 3-8mpg gain depending on the car.

The maintenance cost alone of having the DoD/AFM active, far out weighs the possible 7-18% gain in fuel economy.... plug life shortened, excessive oil consumption, dirty induction system and a really dirty internal engine.
BEG, BORROW< STEAL for a way to have it disabled. Then do an oil change with oil for a desiel engine for 500-1000 miles, and then clean all of your induction system and a fresh regular oil/filter change... then be a happy camper!

I avg 20.5 in a 50/50 mix of hwy and city driving, and I don't baby the car either, but I don't beat on it. On the hwy I get an avg of 30.3 and my car is an 08 and is all stock. I am going to build my own CAI and get a DP & cat back in the spring so hopefully that will help even more.

most bolt on's will give you better MPG like KAI, exhaust, headers, Tunes..... but at the same time they will decrease your mpg.... ill explain
lets say you have intake/exhast, while cruising on the highway your engine will not have to work as hard to suck in the air and blow it out. so you will have a better performing engine and you will increase your mpg.... but as soon as you get on the throttle pretty hard your engine will be able to move more air in and out and this means it will need more fuel to keep up with this increase air flow... which results in a loss of mpg....
so its a balance. i had a full bolt on car for a long time and the mpg actually dropped a little because of "spirited" driving... and the best thing i did do for mpg was switch to 0w 30 amsoil... gave me around 3mpg if you can believe that

you have to beat it out of the dealer to get anything done to our cars im sure it would be even more fun from an oil company. how many "race cars" drag cars or what have you not do you see running 0w oil. but this is for a new thread not to keep hijacking this one sorry for the side track
