Default Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus or Potenza RE970. Opinions?

I am looking to buy new tires on my new GXP. The previous owner put some LS2 tire on it (el cheapo) and had 225's put all around.

I had the Pilot Sport's on my old GXP however, I cannot find the tires anywhere. I really did like them, but I have read some good things on the RE970AS. Any Experience on them?

Thanks
Chad

I've got 960's on my Impala and I put 760's on my girl Malibu SS, both tires handle amazingly in the wet and dry. It doesn't snow too often in Houston so I can't speak to that.

I will say though, the Bridgestones ARE NOT a track tire and will probably do nothing but **** you off if you go to the track with them!

Look into going with larger tire sizes from the stock. That may open the door to what your looking for. 275/40/18's and 255/45/18's ? Not sure- but I think others have run those sizes on stock wheels, may want to search older threads to. I would pick a Michelin tire, three year roadside assistance just for purchasing their tires!

I ended up going with a 255/45zr18 in the front and 235/50zr18 in the rear. I was looking at the one 94ss06gxp said above and the Michelin's and I went with the Pilot Sports. I got one HELL of a deal on them.

$720 for all four w/ road hazard. It does good to know the owner of the local discount tire! Hell, he's the one that bought my Jeep! The price before his deduction was ~$1,400

That is a hell of a hook-up. Hope you got that 70 buck rebate to. Discount tire co is the best place to get tires/wheels. The road hazard warranty alone is worth it!

The 970 and A/S PLUS both seem to be top tier tires.

I have an Wbody and I Have 960's loved them, but they don't make a 970 in that size anymore so I'm trying the A/S Plus.

Costco has 70 instant rebate off them too and do the nitrogen fills too!!

I have the General GMAX AS-03's in my SS. They are exceptional tires. Hold the road great, I can go through corners so much harder with no squeal at all. They are very quiet as well. I have run them around 7,000 miles and they wear really well too, however I can't really tell if any tread is gone. I paid $170 per tire.

I am going with the Michelins on the front from Sam's Club. The rear tires still look like new and it is nice to finally have a FWD car that does not cup the rear tires.

I have the RE760 sports they are awsome (just got them recently). I had pilot sport A/S on my 350Z and they were awsome too. Either way you will be ok. The only thing about the Pilots I think they are heavier dont know if that matters to you. Look at the tire rack and you can find all the specs there not every manufacturer make their tires the same some are taller, wider ect. even if the size is the same. I stuck with the bridgestones because they were close to stock but weigh less and the price was right.

Dont know where you live but costco used to be real cheap. Shop around there are deals everywhere. Just got my set from discount tire and I paid about $300 less than costco.
