2006 Impala SS opportunity I have the opportunity to purchase a low milage SS and was wondering if anyone would have any advice or input. It is a 1 owner vehicle, with 39K original miles.
There have been a few minor dings on the body, but the paint is glossy and the interior is near perfect.
Anything I should look for, the engine runs nicely and pulls hard. I am not feeling anything with the tranny, but I read above and it has me a little frightened.
Would this be worth the asking price of 15K, in general, I know you cannot see the vehicle and are just going on my description. If not what would the expected price be. This is from a new car dealer.

that low mileage and it's had 6 owners?????? why so many, what's wrong with it, why does everyone keep getting rid of that car?? that's what I would be asking....

A lot of people dump these cars when they start noticing the trans problems.
If it's a GM dealer, then they should be able to pull the service records so you can see what's been done.
As for the price, $15,000 is rape. We bought our 2006 Impala for $13,000 OUT THE DOOR back in May 2009 with 30,500 miles on the clock. This was from a Chevy dealer and was Certified Pre-Owned with the 100k mile powertrain warranty.
Granted, we got a smoking deal, but most likely, the dealer probably soaked the last owner and gave them $8k or $9k. Many people on this board have complained about getting offered less than $10k for their low-mileage LS4 cars, so you can throw out what the vehicle value sites say about the car being worth $17k because it's just not true.
