Default 6T75 with a 5.3L H.O. Aluminum truck based motor??

I'm doing the 6T75 swap despite any doubts, as soon as this 4T65e-hd goes I'm doing it. but as most of you already know the stronger of the 2 6A trans's is the 6T75 but it didn't come with a 3.5 or 3.9 attached to it in any car so the bolt pattern of the bell housing is different than the LS4's so my possible solution, besides ordering a new bellhousing, is to just use a 5.3L H.O. Aluminum truck motor that will bolt right up to the 6T75, I'm planning on rebuilding to LS6 bore with forged pistons in prep for a turbo anyways. and I realize the possible passanger side inner wheel well clearance issue, maybe i can use the 1st gen CTS-V surpentine system? its supposted to be the most compact of the RWD LS's...so lets hear it, yay or nay!!

The 6T75 did have the 3.5 motor...My 2009 Saturn VUE has that combo.

All of the hurdles of physically mounting the 6T75 to an LS4 motor have basically been solved by one shop or another. The problem that still needs to be addressed is software. Since the 6T75 was never mated to an LS motor, no one has worked out how the PCM would drive them. The one vendor that looked into this found out that decoding, then recompiling all of the code to make this work would have been thousands of dollars alone.

Now, since the 6T75 was finally made available the 2012 Impala, so it might be possible that the job is a bit easier. You would need a 2012 Impala PCM and probably the harness, and then you'd need to get someone to figure out how to flash it with the LS4 engine code.

Lastly, the 6T75's torque capacity is similar to that of the 4T65-HD, so if you dropped a stock 6-speed into your car, the longevity would still be in question. To my knowledge, the highest torque motor attached to the 6T75 is the 270 lb-ft 3.6 liter HF motor. That's a far cry from the 323 lb-ft our motors are rated stock.

If you're going to the trouble, you ought to look into building the 6T75 first.

Not trying to rain on your plan, but there's a reason this has not yet been successfully done.

Oh...And the 6T75 won't bolt to the truck motor. The truck has the LS V8 bolt pattern while the 6T75 has the 60-degree V6 pattern. You'd need an adapter plate which would make the underhood fit that much tighter.

I doubt the CTS-V accessory drive will work, because if it did, GM would not have gone to the trouble of engineering the system we have, especially since the CTS-V and LS4 setups were engineered at roughly the same time.

I was planning on rebuilding the trans for sure, I already have the core. I'm also not worried about the stock rating considering this trans is pulling around 5000lb SUVs with the 3.6L and towing and whatnot

Are you sure your Saturn doesn't have a 6t70? I was told that the 3.0/3.6 v6s have the same bolt pattern as the LS's

My 06 came with an E40 ECM and separate TCM, so I know I'm going to need an E67 ECM and the T43 TCM is built into the trans, I already have a tuner looking into getting me all set up. I'm planning on a fully custom harness.

That's a good point with the cts-v setup, it came out in 04 and the GXP, first of the LS4s was 05, but I don't know If the 6A trans shifts the motor more towards the drivers side possibly, but it looks like I'll be getting a new bell housing.

You're right about the trans in my VUE. I went back and checked the RPO code sticker, and it says MH4, which is a 6T70, so I stand corrected.

Interestingly, after a bit of research, I found that the 6T70 is also used with the 3.6, indicating that they have the same bolt pattern...the V6-60.

No both the 6t70 and 6t75 are physically identical from the outside the 75 is beefier for the SUVs, the 6t70 came with both bell housings, like the impala now has a 6t70 witha 3.6 but the Cadillac SRX has a 6t75 with a 3.0, there was no 6t75 with a 3.5/3.9

Right...Like I said, my VUE has the 6T70.

Anyway, you may want to do a search in this section, as there are a couple of shops that built all the necessary stuff to get this trans into an LS4 W-body.

I'll be curious to see how the trans programming works out.
