Cartuning Trans Pan Spacer and filter adapter
Just put in the prototype trans pan spacer from Kevin at Cartuning. This 1" spacer essestially makes your existing stock trans pan a "deep" pan adds around 2 quarts. Reason Kevin made this was we were having an issue with 3rd gear clutches slipping under WOT on my car. We found that we were intermittently losing line pressure under WOT after hooking up a trans pressure gauge to the car. This was related to losing ability to pull fluid from pan due to g force. We found that adding slighltly more fluid to the trans helped somewhat, but still did not solve the problem. Kevin ended up making the spacer as well as an adapter that also lowers the trans filter. Spacer will work on all W-Body V8 and V6 applications. Simply put, problem solved!

looks nice but wouldnt it of been easier to just make a new pan than a spacer? thats makes 2 mounting surfaces you have to worry about, plus that looks like some thick metal. i guess for a one off this would be easier, but i'd think mass production a pan would be simpler.
did you have to extend the filter/pickup down?

Gaskets seal just fine, no leaking issues at all. These factory pan gaskets are somewhat thick and a metal/rubber mix and reusable.
Yes, there is a filter adapter that lowers the filter down into the pan.

Does it come with everything needed? I've been talking to him about this and his 3rd gear clutches for a long time, and trying to put together a decent sized order. He's so damn hard to get a hold of.

3rd gear slipping is a big issue with these trans as ive heard from a trans guy who has been investigating them in duty use (cop cars, etc) and was working on a few ideas as well to help this issue out.

Seems to me like the zzp pan is a better option.
1) One gasket
2) Cast alumnium as opposed to a steel pan
3) Finned
4) Adds a drain plug
5) And costs 50$ less.
Im not an advocate for zzp. Especially for our cars , but that is one part of theirs that i feel is really worth the money.

The filter spacer? Spacer will not work with stock pan.

The fact of the matter is that... Im partially blown away that Kevin at Cartuning actually responds to and/or has customer service towards the V8 FWD community. In the V6 community he seems to pretty much be known as an ******* that doesnt care about anything once he gets your money.
