Question Problem with cylinder 1 spark plug.. keeps going bad!

My first problem was a rough idle, got the cylinder 1 misfire code from Autozone, did my research here, and replaced the spark plug. The problem was solved. Then, less than a year later, I had the same problem, and solved it by replacing the plug again! Why does this keep happening? I've asked a few car guys I know, and they had no idea. Does anyone have a suggestion or three? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: Edit: I found a post HERE where they are blaming the oil consumption issue. They say oil in the cylinder is destroying the plug. I've read that GM now has a solution for the oil consumption issue, but how much is the fix? I have no warranty.

If DoD is active than that is most likely your culprit.

What is the cheapest way to get the DoD turned off? Are most mechanics able to do this easily?

Thanks! And extra thanks for the quick reply! I'll look into that for sure. Will that help with the oil consumption too?

Turning off DOD will help cure majority of the oil consumption. And I just did what Brian mentioned to have mine turned off, found someone with HPtuners to turn it off, just have to shell out a little dinero for credits.

I had this problem and did an overkill tune and probably went away. AND....the motor doesnt burn oil anymore. MPG is the same as it was before the tune.

Default Thanks for the help!

Thanks everyone for all the help! I just remembered hearing there's a guy at work, who also has a GXP, that tunes it with his laptop. I'm going to track him down and see if he will disable the DoD for me.
