Default Exhaust Drone

I installed a set of SLP canister style mufflers on my wife's GXP. They sound great! But have A LOT of drone until you get into OD and the converter locks up. My question is, if I take out the resonator I know it will be a little louder but will it help with the drone or make it worse? What about a catless DP?

Removing the cat and res would just increase drone. I run the 3'' downpipe with no cat and no res into the MF cat-back. I get some drone but it's the nature of the beast. Hard to say what setup would work best for you but maybe different mufflers would help?

Idk these mufflers are a straight through baffle style muffler just like a magnaflow.I know a chambered muffler like a flowmaster wouldnt have the drone but I cant stand those.

Nope, I've never had drone with a chambered muffler. Only baffled ones. A lot of it has to do with the way the exhaust system is setup

Maybe try replacing the resonator with a Dynomax VT?

I wish I could give a review on them, but with me being the motivationaly challenged individual that I am. There still in the box.

From what I've heard, zero drone.

Sounds like a good concept! It would just suck when that valve sticks or fails. Kinda seems like the mufflers the c6 zo6s have with the valves that open after 3k Rpms

After looking at it a little closer I don't know if there is room for it where the resonator is?

As far as it failing, its all SS so I would think it would last. I know they had issues with the spring when they 1st came out, but I haven't heard any bad reviews since they revised it. I believe there is a lifetime warranty on them?

Oh ok missed the SS part. Yeah I don't believe there would be room. I would be interested in hearing a GXP with the stock mufflers replaced with a set of those

Are you using the stock piping and welding on mufflers?
