Lol on the steelies!

We've been running them on our debadged SS for a couple of years now, and everyone thinks it's a police unit!

Anyone driving around with a scan gauge set to monitor KR can see this.

Our cars knock enough to begin with and y'all don't need to make it worse by pulling the screen.
Its more o a issue with maf oscillation at lower rpms and airflow. Knock isn't really the byproduct from removing the screen cause once you get on it airflow steady but part throttle transitions will severely be impacted. Regardless the ls4 maf is a pos one of the best upgrades I ever did was upgrade to the ls7 maf plus it was cheaper 45bucks new off ebay

In my experience, I was seeing KR under normal driving conditions, as well as on the dyno. Now, to be fair, this was on an LS1 MAF back in 2001, but at the same time, my dyno pull without the MAF screen looked a lot like Paul325's above...Lots waves in the trace due to the PCM fiddling with the timing.

I did see your thread on the LS7 MAF, and I've considered doing that on the Impala. I already run an 85 MM truck MAF on my Camaro, which made a difference in throttle response, as well as picking up 11 RWHP on the dyno (this is a mildly build LQ4), so I totally see the benefits of the right MAF mod!

yep stock tune no add ons actually I was still under warranty it was 2008 none of the tuners looked very promising. it was for the carcraft street machine of the year comp published in jan 2009 I had an intake and exhaust but after the first bad dayno I snapped it back to stock knowing I would only have one more chance and not knowing which was throwing a wrench in things

I could 3d print some custom stick on vents of you want

The longer you wait the more likely it is to have the paint around it fade. 10 minutes with a hair dryer, fishing line, and some goo gone and they will be off. Other then that it looks good. Actually a lot like mine. Pretty sure I have the same tips and they also hang down low like that.
