Default 2006 impala ss 0-60 time issues...

So I had my tuner hooked up and did a few 0-60 runs. My best time was 6.61?!?! And thats launching at 2k with traction control off. Wtf is the problem? Thats slower than stock times.. I have cai, 3" catted dp, super 44's, res delete, and superchips tune. Anyone can shed some light thatd be great lol

Seems likley that canned tune did you no good probably induced massive kr coupled with tourqe abuse /management modes in your pcm. If the super chips didn't adjust for those then you will probably do worse off. Invest in a real tune one that actually scans your actual engine outputs, and makes changes off that.
you'll see a lot better performance.

Find a way to check if your knock sensors are going off it will retard timing and kill your times.

2 clean your MAF sensor and make sure the screen is in it!

What does the MAF screen have to do with any of this sir? It's probably that shitty superchips tune. They wouldn't even be in business if it weren't for rednecks seeing them in Jegs and bein like hell yeah bo 35hp hell yeah mud!!!!11!!1.

because if you removed the screen, it screws up the airflow through the MAF sensor, which then results in incorrect airflow readings, which in turn screws up your fueling based on that incorrect airflow reading....

everyone should be using the STOCK gm maf sensor, with the screen left in it...

and to the OP, yeah, the superchips is the issue, heh....

get a diablosport inTune and a custom tune for it/your car, and you'll be rippin' it up..

Or use the Saxon PC airflow straightner. Its less restrictive but the cells are deeper which makes maf readings more accurate

Superchips = complete and utter ****.

If you run one and we've told you the above information, then you're just a tool.

Not directing this comment to the original poster, just stating facts here.

I uninstalled the superchips tune. Just kept the shift points and pressures that I want. Car runs better now. If I woulda known how shitty superchips was when I got the car I woulda never used it!

A custom diablo tune...hmmm I wonder why you would say that. Can't say I agree with you on the whole maf screen deal there bud. Did it to every vehicle I've ever owned and never a single problem. Whichever person I had tune it for me never said my airflow was all squirrilly and ****.

a custom diablo tune is easily and by far the most cost effective, while actually being effective, option.

and think about it...GM wouldn't have designed the MAF with a screen if it wasn't necessary for correct functionality.

Oh no doubt. A diablew tune is definitely on the list.....but the whole MAF thing. Couldn't you say the same about a stock tune? Air intake? Exhaust? Suspension?

all I know is on the dyno twice the first time it put down 230 and change and that was with a cherry bomb and no maf screen the second it put down 254 with stock exhaust and the maf screen back on there is something between those two that accounts for that gain. the operator said it looked like it was pulling timing.

MAF descreening was proven to be a mistake about 12 or 13 years ago. I experimented myself with that back in the day and learned that by taking the screen out, I could make a ton of KR but no extra power, and in fact, I lost a couple of HP on back to back dyno sessions.

Anyone driving around with a scan gauge set to monitor KR can see this.

Our cars knock enough to begin with and y'all don't need to make it worse by pulling the screen.
