Default 3.29 Gears

Can all the guys that have 3.29 gears chime in on your thoughts? How has the performance increased? I am about to bite the bullet on this, along with a 300M input shaft, 7/8" chain, etc.

Well i have both the 3.29 gears 300m input shaft with a 15/16 chain and i noticed a pretty big difference with launching and it gained me a 1/3 of a second on the track its def worth it in my opinion

I have a set of 3.29s on my car. I could really tell the difference and so did my 4.6 friends. If you use your car as a DD get ready to spend more money at the pump.

3.29's made my car feel a lot spunkier in town. Couldn't say if it helped on the track as I never ran stock gear ratio on it. I have a hell of a time launching but I think that's poor tires and poor skill

what about 3.29's shaft chain on a stock trans with 80K miles? Would I be better off waiting to get a TEP or woould the gears make the trans wear out more quickly. Im just doing spirited street driving with occasional WOT runs nothing too crazy. SHould I or not? Getting a top shop to change trans fluid and filter . I will install the 225 dollar cooler I ordered from TEP. I guess all the trans parts(3.29), shaft, chain can be ordered from TEP?

If u got 80k on your stock trans i would not just pull the trans to put gears in it would on make sense to just do a full rebuild my stock trans took a crap @76k with a little help from me so!! I say rebuild and be done

I have soo many other mods to do.. so I will just do the fluid/filter and cooler. Wait for it to blow up and call TEP for one of theirs. Thanks man. Hey does anyone know if the Doug thorley headers are too loud inside car or obtrusive with stock mufflers. I'm searching for a used Hogan 3" Catted DP as well.

headers are not very loud at all. Having removed my engine and transmission 2 times I would recommend waiting. I would recommend trans cooler, shift kit and a poly dogbone until you do major work

3.29 gears with 15/16ths chain, 300m input, billet 3rd gear piston and LSD are the way to go!

The gears keep the revs up (obviously) so around town it's a lot snappier as its quicker to TC stall speed and the power curve. You'll loose 2-3 mpg highway and city is as heavy as your foot it. Definitely more fun to drive.
