Yeh i read that one, good reviews on the GTO forums as well. slammedc5 found out the hard way about using too big of a TB on a small opening, his plate wasnt opening all the way lol

god i hate porting, covered in aluminum shavings. Finished shaping and matching all the port entrys in the manifold, and finished smoothly the walls of the exits. Need to cartridge roll the insides and smooth them out, and then finish up all 8 on that one side with 320 and crossbuffs.

Aluminum is a bitch. But then again plastic is too. Wonder if extrude hone is still in business. If I were to ever use a metal intake again I would just send it out to them. I just dont have the patience anymore lol

Awesome thread so far! I ordered one last Friday and it won't be in until next Tuesday. Not really sure why it's taking them 11 days to get it to me. I am putting it on an 05 corvette that I am rebuilding. I got it at a salvage auction for a good deal. I will be polishing the intake runners and putting it on. The car has a 220/228 cam, home ported and polished heads, a .040 head gasket, LS7 exhaust manifolds, and a vararam intake. It will probably be a couple months before I get it tuned though. I'm going to do the body work and get it street legal before I get the tune and find out what it makes. Looking forward to see how yours works out for you.

I think the are. The company that was local to me is closed down but I think the parent company is still active. Had a TPI system back in the day done, came out great although I had no before and after results to go by as the system was new. Its a pretty cool process.

That's the mounting hole for the injector, the port is upside down in the pic. Concept behind porting is "raise the roof, don't lower the floor". So keeping it upside down helps me maintain that, even though there isnt much material removal there at all.

Well the cam can certainly support a 90mm tb, so thats why i opted for the 4 bolt opening, that and just because it doesnt require an adapter to mount it. Ill be using the LS3 throttle body, i dont have it yet but thats what im going to be getting as its significantly cheaper then the LS2 not to mention a better design.

You need the katech adapter, or someone who can modify the new valley tray to move the OPSU if your gonna change the intake manifold. It was cheaper to buy that ICT billet low profile valley tray and the katech adapter then it was to pay my machine shop to cut and weld that OPSU port.

http://store.katechengines.com/oil-p...take-p148.aspx

I use air tools to do the porting. I have a high speed air grinder from lowes and various chucks to fit different style bits. Im using a long shank aluminum burr for the hard to reach areas that need heavy cutting, and a 20 dollar pack of catridge rolls and arbors from harbor freight. Comes with 80-120 rolls and various shapes, spiral and straight. Not really trying to reshape or remove material in the runners by the port openings, only reshaping and heavy cutting im doing is on the inner part of the manifold where the runners take in air from the plenum. There's alot of rough cast protruding in those areas, so im blending them to have smooth transitions around the curves.

It only cost 30 to 50 bucks to have it re welded typically. A non dod valley tray can be had off Brian Tolley racing for about 35 450 bucks

i was quoted anywhere from 75 to 125 from 3 different shops, its not worth their time at a busy shop to deal with dinky **** like this, thats why they charge more. I'm happy with the clean look of the katech adapter on the ICT billet valley cover, which is this one here, for 42 dollars. They dont come drilled with the OPSU hole, but they have countersunk a hole there for it to be drilled out if required so your not hunting around for the exact position. Which is very nice of them to do.

im going to test fit the stock rail using FAST injector hats (extenders) and a set of spacers and see if it will clear the middle of the runners. Worst case scenario a set of holley efi LS1/6 fuel rails will do the job just fine, they sell them as a kit for about 100-120.

lol after im done the porting im gonna switch the valley covers, and test fit it and see how it looks. Ill take some pictures so that everyone can see exactly if any adjustments need to be made.

I hope your not using the fast (bottom side) spacers. You never want to play with the bottom side of the injector. There's plenty of top side spacers out there.

Does this new valley cover have the tower block offs ?
