Coil spring question...
Hello everyone, I just had a quick question about springs for our cars. Im preparing for an overhaul on everything I haven't already replaced in the suspension. I have already replaced a majority of my components, but there have been some pretty annoying suspension issues transpiring over the last few months that I'm getting ready to take care of.
I have new bilstein struts all around ready to go on, as well as new mounts, cv axles, and rear wheel bearings (replaced the fronts late last year). I even have a set of STB's and brackets from Don Rome on the way. Im anxious to do all the work and enjoy the result, but I want to make sure that I don't leave any surface unscratched so to speak. My question relates to the coil springs. Until now I've been keen on just reusing my stock ones (104k on them), as I didn't really have a reason to believe that they are weak. However, I've been thinking that if I'm going this far, I should just look into some new ones. I was thinking stock replacements at first, but I'm pretty happy with where it sits now and I feel getting those might raise it a bit.
I've also been reading up all day on lowering springs from various manufacturers, and I've concluded that most positive outcomes are from people who have used the 97-03 SSC lowering springs on the 04+ gp's because of the "anti sag design" (Which I'm trying to avoid sag, obviously). Claims to be a 1.7" drop all around. I'm currently sitting on 245/35/20's with +40 offset and I've been speculating how that would go putting those on mine. Ive attached a pic of my car now as it sits, I haven't had time lately to take any measurements, but from anybody who has experience with lowering springs, would I be asking for trouble installing this SSC set on my new bilsteins? If I can get a lower look and feel without any rubbing or having to roll fenders, than that would be ideal.
Overall, I'm just up in the air on whether or not it would be worth the investment. As I said, I like where it sits now and I didn't think replacing my springs would be all that necessary. But who's to say I wouldn't like it more with the SSC springs? If I can get rid of what little fender gap I have with no hindrences, than I would be happy. Some outside opinions would be very much welcome. But since I'll have everything apart anyway, why not have it open to consideration? What do you guys think? To lower, or not to lower. Lol.

As of now I'm planning just to reuse my current springs on my new struts with the Don Rome STB's and call it a day. After all, with the info I have, I just don't see a $200+ gamble, essentially, as being the most practical decision. I would love to have the car lowered, I'm just not convinced that I wouldn't run into any issues with clearance yet. As I said in the OP, since I made the decision to even consider lowering springs, I haven't taken any actual measurements of where it sits now. Tomorrow I will do that, compare with the average actual drop folks have been getting with SSC's on GXPs, and determine whether or not I want to pull the trigger.
Thanks for the input, though. I'm going to be doing a lot of reading and research over the weekend to make my decision. I've seen a handful of GXP's on various GP forums with similair sized wheels run SSC's with no problems supposedly, but we'll see. Feedback from here would help tremendously.

Does Canuck have a listing for the springs they sold you, or was it just a special order item that you have to call to request? I ordered my trailing arms on eBay, but I'm assuming the BMR website would have listings for the laterals. I wasn't planning on replacing them just yet but if I can find a decent price I might go for it.

Ok talked to canuck ,the enginerr and i had a convo in 2014 about my height and the gxp setup is from a customer that requested available 2.5 " drop so when we talked we went with 1.7 inch drop and im hsppy no rubbing clunks or anything just a stiffer ride so if u wsnt1.7 drop get non gxp orfer number if u want the 2.5 which is a crazy amount of drop then u would order gxp number
