Default Blower for the ls4

Do ya'll think that the Kenne Bell blower (from a vette) will fit with the stock hood? Or do you think that an aftermarket hood will be needed? Will the blower even fit at all?

Anything is possible. But looking at underhood pics I'd say a new hood would be needed. I'm planning on taking a good look at a GXP when I come home on leave in a month.

I've also sent an E-mail to ATI seeing about a P1-SC fitting in there.

Looking at pictures I found on the internet. I think it would be possible. It would be tight though. The LS4 engine cover does sit pretty high, so there is a good bit of space in there. Also that hugh elbow on the blower wouldn't be needed since the LS4's throttle is at the rear of the engine.

Rich... that quote in your sig had me laughing for a good 5 minutes.

Although an engine blower on an LS4 would probably lead to grenading the stock transmission.

no need for a higher hood. However a cowl one exists not sure if it does for 04 and up. Anyway the reason you don't need a new hood is just use cradle spacers. The stock ones only drop the cradle a bit you can drop it further and not hurt ground clearance. This is how us v6 guys run 2.25 inch thick intercooler heat exchangers under all the different fiberglass hoods with scoops.

How much would you be able to drop it? Every inch helps......

I've heard of some people stacking two of them. In most cases one set drops them enough for a good amount of clearance.

What about looking into the different twin screw setups? There are a couple of companies that modified Whipples to the LS1 motor. What is the difference between the motors with the belt routes?

The LS4 accessory belt is alot closer to the engine itself than a typical LS1/LS2. A different pulley snout would probably have to be fabricated.

no blowers yet. im working with some of the ati fabricators on some random basis looking to see if a procharger could be added, and still retain some driveability, blah blah blah. mainly comes down to fitmet issues more then anything else.
the most viable blower would be to mod an intake manifold and use the gen 5 off the 04 and newer cars {3.8 cars}
