Default Torque converter options?

Is anyone making a higher stall converter for these cars? Or is there an alternate GM 258mm converter that has a higher stall?

We are stuffing an LS4/4T65E setup into a Diablo replica (Fiero chassis). We will be eliminating the D.O.D. and adding heads and cam.

All I see is converters for the 3800 engines there? The LS4 is a 258mm converter, not 245mm.

The LS4 is mated to a 4T65-E(HD) just like the supercharged 3800s. Yes the LS4 and SC3800 uses a 258mm converter and the ones they sale are 245mm(N/A 3800 tranny converter). You have to drill you flexplate to mount a 245mm converter because the stock holes do not line up. Or just buy one from ZZP at the same time for all of $40. People do it every day in the SC3800 world with the same tranny so I think you will be alright.

I would agree with this statement. I would just purchase the convertor and flex plate together and i think they will drop in.

The stock converter stalls pretty high with the LS4. How much more would you expect from the smaller one with out changing heads and cam?

We are not going radical with the cam, so I think we will see how the stocker works and go from there. Thanks for the answers!

Go with a pretty mean converter if your gonna change it... Stock is NICE to me and pretty loose. They are about 3200 stall or so.

Id go 3800-4000 with a mid 2 STR, should be enough to be a mean **** down low, but you will give up roll racing punch as the looser converter is more inefficeient at transfering power at those speeds.
