i'll get some pics of it tonight when i do the intake to it. it's weird to have trq steer from a 4 cylinder. dunno. it doesn't start commin alive till about 5k. i might tinker with the boost bypass on the blower see if i can get some more low end out of it. 1st gear is utterly useless now.

The stock one I rode in seemed to have plenty down low, for a 4 cylinder of course. The S/C helps a ton.

Drive a N/A 4 cylinder like an Acura RSX or Civic Si. Your car will feel like a torque monster after stepping out of one of those

When I was looking at these last year, it was pretty easy to spot the Recaro seats because it had the name stitched on them under the SS. You could only get them in the package that also included the LSD. I wanted the LSD and didn't care about the Recaros b/c the stock seats seemed pretty good, but couldn't get just the LSD. Maybe they changed that for 07.

Excessive wheel hop transmits a torsional shock load into the transmission case. This causes the case to crack and transmission fluid to leak into the clutch housing. See photos below.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Stiffer axle shafts and hardware will change the system harmonics and help prevent wheel hop. These planned changes will not be available until the 2008 model year.

Note:: Be advised that failures of this nature are abuse. They are NOT defects in materials or workmanship for which General Motors would be responsible and should not be covered under the terms of the new vehicle warranty. Vehicles with this complaint should be inspected by the dealer and Area Vehicle Manager. A product report should be submitted on each.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
Very interesting. I have never seen the service bulletin.

I worked on this wheel hop issue on the Cobalt. We evaluated different mounts and different size half shafts as well as torque management. The final result for 2008 MY is a combination of these elements. The turbo Cobalt was going to get a 6-speed, but it cost too much. I really shouldn't get into detail about failure modes, but I would advise strongly against getting your cobalt into powerhop!

The 'ole pay if you're gonna play ... now in the 4 cyl world.

Hard to blame a car company if you're beating the **** out of a component the average person could go 150K miles w/o incident.

Just going to say that Kaz...

Honestly, people beat on these cars...its like an STi or Evo. Its cheap fun until something breaks after they do 5k clutch dumps and donuts out the ***. The point is, anyone that buys a SC'ed 2 door performance coupe is going to beat the living **** out of it, isn't your average daily econo-box driver.

True enough. Though you would think the manufacturers would know this as well and beef up the weak links in the chain. Granted, they cannot do everything, but I bet most of us would be willing to add a few bucks to our car payments to have stronger clutches or TC or gears, etc.

I guess it's all about the bottom line really.

If the spoiler is too loud it just means you're getting older, at least you got rid of the 4-door!!!

Congrats on the purchase.
no ****.... me to. i had the last year..96 z26. me and my sister shared it during the winters lol... we got rid of it last year after having it since 97 with less than 70k miles on it. my sister used it in a trade in for a family car.. a VUE and got $4500k trade in cash for it lol. i guess keeping the car in tip-top shape paid off lol. it always reminded me as a baby 3rd gen camaro lol.
