Default rez delete - stock exhaust.. done!

just got back from the shop. $70 for the pipe welded in place of the rez and a oil change. not too bad.. and the shoud is much better. not too loud but you can for sure tell a difference. had the guy that did the job "a good friend" go up the road so i could hear it.. souds good. a bit louder and sounds like a V8 now. for sure a good cheap mod. maybe in the future i will replace the mufflers but for now i'm happy..

get any drone inside??

that's what I'm thinking of doing.. get the resonator/u-bend removed and put on a pair of flowmasters - keeping the stock piping.

drone.. very little. not much more than stock. but outside the car it sounds much better. I also am thinking about new mufflers. not sure yet tho. i will need to hear one in person with flowmasters before i decide.

What size pipe is it?

Does anyone make a downpipe yet?

Anybody think about replacing the resonator with a cut out (2.5inch by the way). I have been, but with a catless down pipe may be too much noise.

Im running flowmaster 40's and just today had the rez replaced, I thought it would be way to loud for the wife anyway, but she loved it. No down pipe yet that I know of.

If I didn't have one made I would check Hogan performance.

UPDATE: been almost one week since i got the rez hacked out. still love it. the sound is so much better than stock. I have noticed that at WOT it's not all that loud. just a bit more than stock. but at low RPM, like around town it is way louder and much deeper tone. just what i wanted.

Help air flow out of the engine better (just like a CAI makes it flow in better). Short of it is more HP (I would venture to say you will see more gains with a tune than just stock).

You will see negative gains without a tune. . . you can't shove more air in and out of the motor without tricking the motor into thinking its running lean/rich. Either way you will suffer, a tune is a neccessity with most mods.

There are a couple of places that will do a PCM tune (meaning you pull the PCM out of your car, ship it to them, they tune it and send it back - or they can do it in the car if you are located close). That is around $400 or so. But you cannot use the car while they have your PCM.

Diablo and HP Tuners both make tuners/software to tune yourself. Diablo is cheaper, but HP is more in-depth.

Tuning helps the car breathe better, improves shift points, removes speed limiter, etc, etc. (More HP and better performance). You can turn off the DoD as well.
