That looks exactly like what I used on my 04 Comp G (see post in this thread). It is very easy to do and I did notice a difference in how quickly the IAT reads with this vs the stock one. Main reason I did mine was sitting in the staging lanes heats up the car pretty quick and if it takes around 15 seconds for the stock one to read and make a change then the 1/4 is over and done with. But with the one off a LS1 that reads every second then yes I can have my pulled timing returned and use it (the missing power) in the run.

The thing I was interested about with the Vector sensor was the claim of being faster to respond. I ran three tests today. In the first two I tried to let the car get hot where the IAT was at least 130. Each test was the same where I'd drive about 1.75 miles at a speed of between 30 to 35, turn around and wait until the IAT wa at 120, then run a WOT until about 80, then hit the breaks hard to avoid any deer that would sneak out of the woods. The damn breaks pulsate with just 7K. That's another topic.
Also of note this is the first tank with 93 in a while which may account for some KR.
Start at Noon
Test 1 Stock setup with Diable 93 no DOD :
Start IAT was 129.
Turn around IAT was 120.2 so continued test right away.
WOT run showed a 7 second initial response in decrease from 120.2 to 118.4 and by the end of 2nd IAT was 114.8 and after the drive back home the IAT was 113.
Max 1st gear timing was 25.5 no KR. 2nd was 23 with 1.5 KR.
Test 2 Vector IAT tied to the side of filter in CAI box with Diable 93 no DOD (started about 15 minutes after returning from 1st test) :
Start IAT was 138.2.
Turn around IAT was 120.2 after a short pause.
WOT run showed a 2 second initial response in decrease from 120.2 to 118.4 and by the end 2nd IAT was 109 and 105 when I returned home.
Max 1st gear timing was 28 no KR. 2nd was 24 but had 2.4 KR that increased to 6 about 60% and up into the 2nd gear run with a final timing of 19.5 (including the KR).

Start IAT was 125.6.
Turn around IAT was 122 so continued test right away.
WOT run again showed a 7 second initial response in decrease from 122 to 118.4 and by the end of 2nd IAT was 114.8 and after the drive back home the IAT was 109.4.
Max 1st gear timing was 25.5 no KR. 2nd was 25 with 0.17 KR.
My observation, remote mounting does make a small difference even with a stock sensor, but the Vector sensor did what they say it does and responed faster even though the engine was much hotter during the initial start of the run.
I think if my whole tank had good gas the KR would not have reared it's ugly head so much.
I'm not getting into a discussion on building one since I think its not much help unless you have the fast responding sensor and I don;t have an LS1 version to compare. Frankly I wonder if the Diable tool captures the readings quickly enough. regardless the Vector sensor responded in less than a third of the time as the stock or LT1 sensor.
Their setup allows you to go back to stock in a few seconds if the dealer where to give anyone greif during a visit.
I like their setup even if it is pricy. I also think it will work better once I drill the end of the filter for it.

it's a two wire deal anyways. it is not sensitive to polarity, so thats no big deal.
for the 05 cars, it's a black wire and a tan wire at the end of the plug. two last wires. same for the 06 cars, but both are tan wires right next to each other. if you put the right connectors on each side of the wiring. you can just do a plug and play deal. slp sells iat sensors, and there is also a faster reacting one that is used by numerous gto people. i just can't remember the name, or who makes it right now.

I'm a little late to this party, but I have one in my car as well. I'm pretty sure the HSRK has the fancy "Omega" thermister in it from blowing on it when scanning IAT w/HPT. I have mine in a hole I drilled in my stock airbox before the rubber boot leading to the MAF. No scientific comparsions here, but from memory of last summer and scanning this summer, the IAT's are quicker to lower while driving. These things are hot running under the hood for sure though. I have been thinking of moving the thermister further up the airpath to see if the resulting cooler temp readings would trigger a rash of KR or not, that's a project for later.

I was just talking to a guy at the speed shop where I am getting my dyno tune on the 15th and he says you can adjust this in the cpu. He told me there is know point to buy this.

I got the HSRK this morning and installed it in about 15 minutes. I drilled a 1/2 inch hole and placed the sensor in the rubber end of the cone filter closest to the cotton part itself. The sensor is contained within the CAI box further shielding it from heat. It fits nice and snug.
