ls1/ls2 cams will work, if the end of the cam matches the factory bolt pattern

I think there would have to be one custom made because the lobs on our cam from what I read also work with the DOD

No if you read on the top of the forum how this motor works there was cams designed for the LS6 also specific for the DOD feature in them. I personally would not stick a ls2 or what ever cam in there, if you have the wrong cam you can say by by motor and well to replace it you are looking at $4000 us for a used one.

Isn't our block shorter requiring different intake/exhaust positions on the cam?

That would be a big problem...DOD can be removed with different lifters and a different oiling system.

The consensus is that the accessory drives/units and possibly some of the mounting points are shorter, but the cam is traditionally sized for the LSx.

I already disabled DOD in prep for putting the LS2 cam in. Personally, I have not seen much of a mileage difference.

dod is dictated by the lifters. yes the cam is different. the lifters can take up to .590 i believe in lift from the cam itself.

this subject has been discussed many times.

i cant imagine that no one is marketing a ls4 cam
they come with best of the oem cathedral port heads, the 243's
also is the ls4 equipped with a ls6 type intake?

The LS4 is an LS6 block sliced down by 13mm I believe with LS2 heads.

Yeah that's it. I couldn't remember what was shorter, crank or cam.

Well FWIW, couldn't you just switch out the lifters to Ls2 spec ones? And what is stopping us from installing a Fast 90/90?

the dod oil crap in the manifold itself. manifold isn't the problem. the heads are definately not it.

it's the cam.

you can swap the lifters out, pull all the dod crap off, shut the codes off with hpt. and have fun.

i think what u mean is the bore is 3.78 with ft pistons and 3.622 stroke
with short crank snout, the ls4 and ls6 block are 2 diff. castings.
ls4 is based on 4.8/5.3 iron block but cast in alloy with pressed in sleeves

Isn't the ls4 almost the same as the ls2?

The 5.3L LS4 shares the basic architecture of the 6.0L LS2. This includes an all aluminum block, six-bolt main bearing caps, deep-skirt cylinders, and a structural oil pan. It has the 243 casting LS6 heads with LS1 valve springs, which are good for 6200-6300 rpms.

Tell me if there is a manifold that works. Wow that would add good 15-20 wrhp
