My wife's 07 had nearly the same damage minus the trunk damage. We got hit by a cavalier on the highway, so the impact was lower. Our repair bill was ~$5000 when completed.

If you want to save a few bucks, buy a used exhaust from someone. My insurance company paid >$900 for a new exhaust.

Do they have to pull the frame?

Well my car is coming home on Monday! No "major" damage. They did not have to pull the frame and none of the suspension was affected. I can't WAIT to get my ride back!!!

unrelated car, but again on the same note with GM durability.

Friend of mine has an olds aurora (not sure what year) he hit 2 deer in a row and all it did was rip the mirror off the passenger side and slightly ding the hood. It has a huge hunk of an aluminum bumper right behind the plastic front piece. It was like a good 6-8 inches thick.

GM - like a rock and I can believe it.

Sorry about that man. My 06 Monte Carlo SS was a total loss. It looked similar to Scarlet's Imp. It too was hit by an Expedition going in the neighborhood of 40 mph. Glad you weren't hurt.

I assume the attached pictures are your fixed car. You may want to go to a chevy dealer and measure where the emblems are supposed to be placed.

The SS emblem looks too far to the right. The Chevy symbol seems a little too high.

We went through incorrect emblem placement on my wifes car when it was fixed. The impala letters and SS emblem were too high. The impala symbol on the quarter panels were put upside down the first time, then too high the second time. In our case, the emblems were off by several inches, so it was really noticeable the car was repaired. The body shop ended up replacing all of the emblems. GM does not supply a template with the new emblems, so the body shops guess where the emblems are supposed to be.

Better to have just left all but the SS off, imo...but too late for that.

My ex backed into my MCSS in her driveway tonight ... ripped up the front bumper from what I can tell in the dark.

Then she blamed me for parking in the middle of the driveway???

Smooth.

But once work was already put into it what are they going to do. In the end it was 32,000 dollars to repair my 28,000 monte carlo. That was before i got it back. After i got it back i made them fix serveral things i found wrong "holes in gas tank" , "dirty headliner" , Bent roof. all sorts of ****. they didn't remove all the broken glass from the seats and out of the corners of the map holders on the door. But at least the frame isnt bent at least the motor wasnt hit and at least she drives straight :*(
Never show the pic of that thing to a possible future buyer.

My wife backed into a pickup truck about a year ago and came home balling her eyes out...dented the bumper pretty badly, but no other damage. I found a steal of a bumper on eBay...only $75 shipped with minor scuffs on the bottom (so i know i needed to have it painted anyway), only to have it arrive with almost the same dent due to a shipping snaffu by DHL (so i ultimately got it for free, as they refunded my money).

Fastforward a couple months...Took it to a body shop that first tried to boil out the dent, which didn't work, so they filled it in, painted it and put it on for $240. Had them install it last October, about 6 months after the damage occurred, only to have it get parallel parked into while i was out on Thanksgiving eve (***king drunks!).

To this day i've been so frustrated with this car that the scratch remains. I don't feel like dropping another $200 into that bumper, only to have it scuffed up again by the kids' backpacks and such...it's a mess!

Here was the original damage:

And after i popped it out it and hand buffed it up it looked like this:

And now it looks like this (scratch is to the left of the plate):

B/C at that time i hadn't really buffed them. I buffed them up about a month ago, but they're still not great. I plan to have the car professionally done before winter, so i'll let them hit them again.

Yeah, after the fact, the plate is quite arrogant...considering there are many sixes and other 8's (and probably some 4's) out that that could make me a fool...but those would be few and far between so i'm still OK with what i have on there, LOL. It's time to renew my reg in a couple days and i'm considering changing the plates again...

Her insurance is paying for it, with a rental car included. Can't get a bumper now 'cause GM is on strike.
