My 6 week old Impala SS was rear ended today..
This morning at 5:30AM my 2007 Impala SS was rear ended by a 2000 Ford Expedition travelling ~40MPH. The expedition's front end was completely mashed and it was undriveable. The Ford's airbags deployed and the lady driving was pretty shaken up but thankfully not hurt.
The Impala took one helluva hit but I walked away from the crash without any serious injury except a few sore muscles.
I want to personally say thank you to the excellent engineers at Chevy for making my vehicle so safe. I will be a chevy guy for life!
p.s. say a prayer for my poor SS

That sucks man! My car got rear ended at 4 months old. Not much damage at all. Just a bumper cover replacement. These cars seem to hold up pretty good to rear end damage!

Glad to hear you're OK ... I had an '03 that a semi drove through the front of a couple of years ago, we all walked away from. My D/D has always been a W-Body for that very reason.
They still got the Days of Thunder car at City? Got my picture taken next to it in '98 FWIW
"Take a 1/2" off from you and shape you like a bullet" I have that movie on VCR tape (what ever you called it), can't even play the movie anymore.

Wow...i knew some people discussed side exit exhaust but that's not the way to do it! LOL
On a serious note, glad you're alright.
Interesting...with all of that impact and buckling, the comparably fragile taillights managed to escape seemingly unharmed.

I Feel your pain. Glad you are alright. My wife and our oldest son were on their way home in a nasty thunderstorm in our 5 month old 06 Goat, she lost control, bounced of a tree with the roof and landed upside down in a flooded yard. Our youngest son and I were in our pickup right in front of them. The cars roof was flattened to the level of the crushed hood. But the seats both stayed upright and kept them from being killed. I got there and with help ripped open the door and got them out. She broke her collarbone(had surgery and a plate installed) and our son just got the hell scared out of him and a small cut on his face. I second that praise to the engineers. The car was a total loss(God I loved that car) but I would GLADY trade the loss of it to keep them any day. Now we have a GXP Grand Prix( not as much power, but the wife and kid didn't feel right sitting in a GTO again. Can't say I blame them.

Have any pictures of the truck??
You guys say this about the Chevy's, but that GTO reminded of my last experience so I want to share my old car. Quick scenario: 2006 Scion tC (lowered, high performance wheels/suspension/tires). Truck we were following up I-35 sent us into an unrecoverable skid when it spit out two tires which got lodged up under our car. 70mph rollover, i had a cut on my head, girlfreind had two cracked ribs from slamming into the armrest when we bounced on the driver's side. Stopped upside down down in a ditch about 30 feet below the road surface. Car held up like a CHAMP, i was super impressed!!

Yep by the time they where done fixing my monte carlo they could have bought me another one but i think the body shop i took it to wanted the money so they milked the insurance company making them think "at first" that it was'nt going to be that much. But once work was already put into it what are they going to do. In the end it was 32,000 dollars to repair my 28,000 monte carlo. That was before i got it back. After i got it back i made them fix serveral things i found wrong "holes in gas tank" , "dirty headliner" , Bent roof. all sorts of ****. they didn't remove all the broken glass from the seats and out of the corners of the map holders on the door. But at least the frame isnt bent at least the motor wasnt hit and at least she drives straight :*(
