Default modifying stock tune with Predator?

Well, recently the tranny has started to shudder at WOT on the Diable DoD tune on the 1-2 shift and taking a long time to actually shift. At a guess it is burning/jumping the clutches. I am looking at going back to the stock tune and using the "modify stock tune" option to get some of the timing back and adjusting the WOT fueling. As I understand it, they have essentially disabled TM in the tune as they cannot talk to the tranny.

Anyone tried using the tool to modify the stock tune yet?

I need to get some of the torque reduction back in the shifts (if it is indeed eliminated in the Diable tune), plus it would make the DoD operation less intrusive.

Have not looked at my menu options on the stock tune page yet, just looking for some info yet from someone who might have first hand knowledge.

Thanks and such. Hoping to delay having a tranny built for this thing as long as possible, although I think a higher STR on the stall would do wonders for driving on the street, not so good for the DoD though.

I've tried it. The Factory Tune on the tool is their copy of the stock tune. You will not be changing your real stock tune. DOD still surges with it. Johan claimed it is the stock tune and that they did not modify it, but they must still remove the TM. Some HP Tuner folks had said that is why the DOD surges on the 4-8 cycle. I’m waiting and hoping when they do talk to the trans they will fix the DOD surge, as my driving benefits from that feature.

I hope your trans isn't going, but the shift with the stock tune is firmer feeling than the Diablo, at least on my Imp.

yeah, that is what I remember (being firmer stock). I guess I can give it a shot to see if it helps, might even go back to my stock back-up file until/if they give us the long promised TCM update.

Thanks.

I've already gone back to my stock tune. I also disconnected the battery to clear the learned trims. I'm also looking forward to the TCM update, assuming it gets here before it's time to sell the car.

Does updating the tune rewrite it all or does it just modify certain parameters? I am fairly sure it is the former, but if it is the latter, then maybe going back to the back-up tune and then going to the 'stock' tune will get rid of the TM deletion.

For the time being, I am going back to stock anyway, I can double check my WOT O2 numbers on the fly (couple of mods) to make sure it is not running lean with the stock program and see how that goes for a few hundred miles.

From what I've seen going back to the original backup (stock) tune is the only way to get the DOD working perfect and I equate that to putting all the TM back in. I'm not certian how much Diablo rewrites when you change the tune.

went ahead and popped in the Predator 'stock tune' and the car was undriveable. Part throttle shifts were at full line pressure (read; slamming into gear) and it was way rich. Was really surprised that the PCM changed so much with its learning to make the stock-ish program run so poorly. Pulled over a half mile away and put the Diablo tune back in. (had no tools to disconnect the battery with me). Guess it will have to wait until I am home to get it all taken care of (another 3 weeks or so).

Restore from the original backup and try again. The only time I had weird shifting like that is when I didn't turn the key off after switching and just started driving. I didn't do that again.

Someone mentioned pulling the PCM/TCM fuse instead. Have not tried it, but I'm sure it would work.

don't have to disconnect the neg. battery cable... just pull the ECM/TCM fuse...

it's located in the fuse block under the hood... it's under the big gray STRTR relay - it's a blue 15 amp fuse... look in your owner's manual, it shows it there.

and as far as tools... when you remove that fuse block cover, there's a white fuse puller on the right hand side - it clips right on to the fuses to pull them and push them back in... then just squeeze the top and bottom of the puller to release the fuse...
