Nope...no more Chevys in the local PD fleet. Mostly Crown Vics...a couple SUVs...even a Charger or two. They used to have a few 2000-2005 Impalas but you don't see those often.

Anyway...'nuff about me BTT!

Our dept had purchased a fleet of impalas in 2003, boy did they die a quick death, none of them lasted over 90,000 miles. Switched to all vics and expeditions, not as many problems.

Buff,

I’m disappointed you took yourself out of the line up. I mean no disrespect towards the other fine candidates, but you’ve always shown a level headed temperament by your interaction with others on this board, no matter how idiotic some may have considered them. I would think as a moderator, you would not need to be an LS4 Oracle, but rather a neutral go-between who could also lighten up the feisty exchanges we sometimes see.

To hell with the paying job, dedicate yourself to where you will make a difference. A difference to those of us who would rather rant on here then do their work.

Good luck sir.

Corny is right. I haven't been on much at all in the past 2 months. I'm pretty damn busy with the new job and being in Iraq for another year. I don't have enough time or even regular internet use right now. I have to travel a bit and alot of the patrol bases and other FOB's don't have decent internet or even internet at times. I use to be on alot (as in up to 8 hours a day) and stay involved in the threads when I could, but right now I don't have the ability to stay on top of everything.

I don't see 2 mods being needed. Just 1. I will be able to be on enough to help out whoever get's the job. Plus there's the mod forum and the admins to take advice from. There's not enough activity in here to have more then 2 mods at any given time.

With that said, I'm looking over the recommendations and reading up on the posts each person has made. Moderating isn't about have the most knowledge about the LS4 cars, it's about regulating the way the forum runs itself. I'd rather the discussions flow freely without much interfernce from me. I chime in if I have info and nobody is anwering the questions or if bad info is being posted or more info is needed. Knowledge is needed, but isn't the end all part. An even temper and disposition is needed the most.

Plus this is a business site paid for by advertising and sponsor advertising. That is why outside vendors are not allow to solicite sales from the site. BUT you can post up information about that product. Just not information about how and where to buy the product. Then the site is being used for free advertising and that pisses off the owners and the other sponsors who are paying for the right to advertise here. So. If you are going to be a moderator that is something else you need to be aware of.

I'm sending John and Tony a PM to advise them about what is going on.

I didn't know you were re-deployed, thank you for your service .

If 1 mod is sufficient, then I would recommend Lew, he knows a lot more than I, and has posting quality here for a long time.

I think it's kind of ironic that we're talking in two threads on the same subject being moderation and cleanup. haha

Nice you guys have the internet, Back in the day, each one of the guys on my Team was issued 400 5.56 rounds, 12 MRE's, 40 rounds for the 203, and each one of us humped 2 belts for the 60. Carried a couple changes of socks and some toothpaste, wipes if we were lucky.

Never had to deal with exploding trashcans or mailboxes though. Stay safe!

PM me if you guys need any chocolate chip cookies, chewing gum, etc.

Hey Kaz-

that would be a great idea if everybody sent Richie a package of small items and such. I don't know what life is like over there, but I know they take joy in getting packages from home .

That would be real thoughtful Nacho.

All sugar based products that can hold up in 120 heat is definitely good! Cheetos, snack foods, nuts, chewing gum, jerky / sausages go a long way.

They always can use toiletries, AA batteries, extra CDs, magazines, foot powder and socks.

I mainly remember always being hungry, sand blasted watches and walkmans. An ice cold root beer at sunset was a real treat!

I have you on back-up if Lew doesn't take the job. Or if we end up needing another one.

I'm not in the Army any longer. I ETS'd back in Febuary after 10 years. This time I'm making good money as a contractor, but everyone still does there part. I still work side by side with the Joe's out here and a couple I knew when I was in.

I'm good on the care package side. Thanks for the thought. Means as much as getting a package.

This is my 3rd time here and my 4th time in a war zone. (I don't count the Balkins as a war zone like here is.) What you described is what Afghanistan and Iraq both were when the 1st push came thru. I had more fun back then roughing it then working in this GD Garrison in a war zone with all the stupid *** rules. Since I'm now a contractor I can be sent home easily. ****. Get 2 speeding tickets and the MNF-I commander can ship you out of here. It sucks driving all around Baghdad doing 40Kmh MAX. Most places are only 25-30Kmh. (That's driving no faster then 30 MPH)

I miss the simple life with no stupid rules.

I hate never knowing if a mortor is going to come in worse then being in a convoy being hit with an IED. Atleast being in an uparmored truck gives you some protection. But walking around the FOB, almost no body wears their IBA unless the threat is pretty high...but if it happens it happens. I can't worry about it. It would drive me nuts.
