I've got an '06 Imp SS and the stock exhaust looks like it's about 50 years old. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and wonder if the dealer would replace it.

the stock steel is fairly mild, but surface rust should not be problem for at least 3-4 years at a minimum. Takes a lot longer to rot out the entire pipe. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes, mine looked like $h!t when i put the magnaflow on after just over a year after i got her. It annoyed the hell out of me, though. Unless you were driving a big truck behind me, any other driver could see those ugly mufflers sticking out beneath the car. They looked "50 years old," as you put it.
Over at the now defunct LS4wbody site, someone posted that they used Mother's Wadding Polish and a LOT of elbow grease to clean up the mufflers to like-new condition. They then washed them down and sprayed them with high-temp clear enamel. They had pics to prove that it worked.
I tried Eagle1 Wadding Polish on mine before i sold it on eBay and i didn't get the same results, but i didn't actually give a ****, so i didn't try as hard. Corny40 did manage to clean his up to sell on eBay, so maybe he'll have some pointers. There may also be a thread here about it already...but it's likely 9+ months old or so.

Thanks guys, just curious. You are right Buffalo, it drives me CRAZY also! Just makes the whole back of the car look like s##t.
Guess I'll have to look into the Magna Flo. How does it sound? Any HP gain?

It sounds great, IMO. Much deeper and way more noticeable than the OEM setup. The stock exhaust has that "burble" to it and this does not. Some go with the "loud" setup that is Flowmasters...i went with the magnaflow and love it. Haven't heard it side-by-side with one with flowmasters, so i can't really say which i'd prefer, but i like mine for what it is.

Yeah, mine cleaned up pretty well when I sold them. I couldn't find the Mother's "wadded" polish, so I got the same Eagle 1 stuff that Buff got. I wasn't satisfied with the results, so I just went out and got a regular Mother's polish. Let me tell you, that Mother's stuff was damn good. While I didn't quite get the great results the guy Buff is talking about, I probably didn't try as hard as he did. Anyway, the Mother's was a much better polish than the Eagle 1. With enough elbow grease, it'll make almost any metal look great.
Good luck!
Good luck!

metal polishing /cleaning/grinding/ cutting can all be done easily with a nice grinder and some time, little elbow grease required to be honest with the grinders.

There is a little rust on the seams of the mufflers, but it cleans up with little effort (just have to do it). The tailpipes look like crap b/c i never painted them when i had the new tips welded on...but i'm going to paint those silver in the spring to avoid that problem. All in all it's fine.
