I think the hoses should be on top of the engine cover. Here is my car when it arrived at the dealer after I had it special ordered. 4 miles on the odometer and plastic all over it. No one touched it, except the sales manager. So I doubt he placed the hoses over the engine cover.

GM is no different than any other assembly plant. Lots of people work there and do the same job differently than the guy/girl next to them. my car had 8 miles on it when I got it. I've seen cars both ways. Which is right? which is wrong? You'd have to get ahold of the gm assembly line instructions. bottom line. Who cares. If you like them on top of the cover, put them there(or leave them). If you like them neatly tucked under it put them there(or leave them). If you put two exact same cars next to each other at the lot and compare them you'll probably find dozens of small differences between them.

How 'bout we all decide to put the one closest to the firewall under the cover and the other one on top of the damn thing then we can quit arguing about retarded things that don't matter.
I do think that the painted covers look nice guys keep up the good work.

As 20SS07 mentioned, i painted everything. I did no prep work on anything, unlike mike. I just cleaned off the stickers on the STB and went to town with some Duplicolor metallic silver paint. A few coats of that on the STB and diagonal braces, followed by a few coats of high-temp clear, and all was well. I did the same with the engine cover. Just cleaned it up, taped off the center and painted the front & rear and covered it with the clear. I used some black touch-up paint to do the lettering...but it looks like $h!t and should probably be done over. It's yellowing for some reason, so this spring i'll re-do the silver, paint the center gloss black, and then do the letters over.

Now I'm curious. Is this a Chevy, Pontiac thing? Is one installed one way and one the other per factory. Doesn't matter just curious really. maybe someone had mine off. maybe. Other GP owners chime in on this meaningless topic(way off topic). were your hoses on top or under the engine cover?

On topic the painted covers and engine compartments look nice. Cheap(somewhat), easy(somewhat) way to make your car stand out.

FWIW, if you haven't ordered your STB's yet...FLIP @ CGP who modifies the bars can usually paint them for a price. He's already repainting them black.

Someone may take that post down due to their strict "sponsor-only" policy...

I PM'd the guys at CGP and asked them to swing by and introduce themselves to the guys that don't go to CGP and NAIOA.

NP, Filp...glad you stopped by. I just talked to Don as well, so he should be stopping by as well.

Supercatxr7, the monte is the same as the Imp... so you'll be just fine with the modified bar.
