Default Old Member, New car....

Well I've been here since the very beginning on ls1tech. Had a 99Z28 that went 10.02@135mph on spray. Had a ton of fun but sold it in an even MORE modded condition. Never got to run it with the 408 in it. That was back in August. So fast forward to now....

Sorry for shitty pics. New camera and haven't played with the settings yet.

2008 Chevrolet Impala SS
Black/Ebony Interior
Sunroof, XM, 6-disc CD, BOSE
High Polish Wheels

blah blah blah

My lease was up on the Equinox soon, so I just paid the end and turned it back in. Deals were too good to pass up on this thing. With working FOR a dealer group you get some good pricing, but GM really sealed the deal. I have a GM card that only had about $140 in earnings on it. I never use it. Anyways, I got a letter in the mail saying they rounded up my earnings to $2000. So that's over $1800 in free money. When we ran the numbers, I had a total of about $2100 in earnings I could put towards the car. So a price better than GM Employee, w/ those rebates and GM card earnings, was definitely nice.

Definitely different to drive than the Equinox. I only have 31 miles on the car. Haven't gotten on it yet, but ride is smooth and quiet.

Now for the fun stuff. I'm good friends with BADD(Tom) so with his Monte Carlo, he's had alot of experience with messing with these things. Hopefully he can show again with this car that the Wisconsin boys know how to make them run. Won't do the turbo kit, but wouldnt mind being one to explore the DoD vs. different cam scenarios. Just seeing what could work/might work/won't work. I do have enough stuff laying around to make a 3 stage nitrous kit on this car, hahaha.

Funny, I don't have those. I have the old school key fobs from the '06-'07 era. Didn't even know they had new ones, hahaha

Yes, all 2008 Impala cars "were" to come with them. You will want to check with your Dealer, because they are better remotes with longer ranger and better reaction timing then the old ones.

Let me know what the dealer says. Also, if they question you, tell them to pull the GM dealer book, its right in there for all 08 Impala SS cars.

Enjoy your new Impy...!!!

From what i've heard, the new fobs were no different...but the 2-way LCD pager system is a dealer add-on...for a price, of course. Up to 2000' range...which probably means 300'. This system can be added to any 2007+ GM with the remote start option.

Nice ride...don't think my wheels shine like that anymore, no matter how clean they may be. Any reason you went with the polished and not the chrome wheels?

It's what was on the dealership lot. Since I have two chevy stores in my dealer group I just work with what they had. Didn't feel like doing a dealer trade because then I'd have to drive and get the car, and nothing was "local" (i.e. within 25 miles) that I liked. The other cars were like 100 miles out in our dealerworld locating system. And that's as the crow flies, not actual street miles.

Anyways, here's some day pics I just took while at my dealership

These should be better

For the wheels, they "look" chrome, but the actual dealer invoice lists them as "high polish" and a $700 add, give or take since i don't have it in front of me. They are not the "normal" satin type wheel. If there is a wheel that is even shinier than these, than DAMN, hahaha.

Interesting. My "High polish aluminum" wheels were about 1/2 that additional cost...so maybe they ARE the chrome versions. She looks great, though, regardless.

Word of warning...not sure how many others are dealing with this issue...but my rockers and lower parts of the doors are beat to hell from the salt during the last two winters. Right where your "salt lines" are in those photos...the paint is totally shot and pitted. I'd suggest one of 3 options. Get the mud flaps, a few THICK coats of good wax, or have a pro install the 3M protective stuff on there.

Good luck with her.

Thanks! And definitely thanks for the advice. I use to do some of that 3M protective stuff when I worked at a graphics shop years back. Probably will do that. Didn't even think about it, but again, thanks for the advice.

Yep, window sticker says....

Wheels, 18" Aluminum, Polished $795

I'll have to search GMBuypower to see what's up with options. Wierd thing is I'm not normally at the Chevy stores, so I don't know **** about options, haha.

Pretty sure my "polished" option was somewhere between $375 and $425, max. Wonder how much the Chrome option is, then.

I'm a friggen idiot. I forgot I can sign in to the GMDealerworld and that'll be the easiest place to look for that stuff.. Hold on one sec....

Ok, here we go... and this is stupid....

There is NOT 3 wheel options. It's not like there is a "base wheel", then polished, THEN chrome.

You have the standard wheel that is whatever you want to call it, then you have option code QR2 which is listed in the system as "QR2 Wheels, 18" Chrome Aluminum", but like I said, on the WINDOW STICKER it's listed as "high polish"

There is no "polished" option, just this chrome that they felt necessary to have two different names for. Here's the option list for our cars(the one that's not there is the 6-disc/mp3 radio option). See the highlighted in blue area. That is what is on my car because I can search all cars that have that option, and it brings up mine. Stupid GM, always doing stuff the hard way, haha

Well, that certainly clears things up a bit. I've been looking around and it seems the 08's no longer use the polished wheels that my 06 has, just the chrome and the standard satin finish.

I don't think i've ever come across the basic "machined aluminum" wheels that came std on my '06...can't imagine that they still use that. I think that's the "satin" you speak of. They should have done the base with the polished, and made chrome a $400 option.

Yea I had the "polished" like you Buff and I don't recall them being over $700, but I can't remember. But yea they ditched those "non-polished" versions. Now the polished that we had to pay for are standard and the chrome are the optional wheels, which I wish I had. Car looks good t hough slowz28, goodluck with it.
