kept up with an M3 this guy i know that i raced a while back when he had a big *** turbo on his audi a4 just recently sold it and bought an M3 and i happened to see him last night so he asked if i wanted to race and i was like hell yea...so we start driving along do our 3 honks and take off..now the roads were a lil wet so the first 2 runs i just put my foot down not thinking that i would have no traction but the third race i babyed the throttle and i was actually ahead most of the race up until 110 then traffic decided to get heavy but yea my impy made me very proud knowing it could keep up with an M3

Off hand I don't know what the E46 1/4 mile times are. But I'm pretty sure 0-60 was 4.8. So I dunno that I would say they're not that quick. That's pretty damn quick to me.
EDIT: C&D tested the E46 when it first came out and they yielded a 0-60 time of 4.5 and 1/4 mile of 13.1@107.

this guys is a bone stock 2003 M3 not the E46 o w.e it is car runs 13.6 1/4 mile stock and it was from about a 25-30 mph roll i used the shifter and held it in first so the car wouldnt **** in 2nd gear which it usually does.. im proud to tell people i can keep up with an M3...i wanna take my car to the track in the spring to see what it can really do..i think after i get tuned i can run mid to low 13's but thats just my guess right now

E46 is the same thing, it just refers to the generation. The style you went against is an E46, the previous gen was an E36. The ones out now is I believe the E90. It applies to the 3 series as a whole not just the M3. So us saying an E46 M3 doesn't mean it's anything special. Just clarifying what generation. Regardless, very impressive you kept up.

High RPM is nothing if the power inadequate, besides I can't imagine that engine lasting all that long if that's what you need to do it to get just 400 horses out of it.It certianly doesnt have the torque that a larger engine would produce. If that BMW had an engine such has an LS2 it would be a way better car. Simpler, lighter, more fuel effcient.....
