Problem with that is we would need l99 heads. They are not cathedral port like ours.

Not sure this matters. Valley cover just bolts to the block, doesn't have anything to do with the heads.

I suspect that the l99 valley cover is the same as the LS4 one. i.e. it needs to feed the oil to the DOD lifters too.

The G8's accessory drive was designed for the TB on tha front side. GM didn't route water pump lines and mount power steering resevoirs in the way like on the LS4.

What if we just swapped out the heads, with GMPP heads like the L92 heads for 212.85 each(bare) and 449.95 each(assembled). And then throw on a Fast LSX intake mani. Would that work? Im not super tech guy either but wouldnt this work?

I mean you would have to get rid of DOD which i could care less. Or is the DOD feature built into the lifters?

I say whatever it takes to get rid of the DOD feature, and this is a little more far fetched but what about swaping the motor out completely with like an LS2? Or is the LS4 block built solely to bolt up to our 4T65e-hd's?

Anywho, im learning fellas so be easy on me....

The ls4 block mounts the throttle body on the conventional rear of the block instead of the front where all the accessory belts and stuff usually go.

so what you are saying is that the g8 valley cover is probably the same the difference is the direction the opening in the intake manifold faces i would assume it should fit with the normal heads an aftermarket company should get their **** together and make us a valley cover

Accessory drive system is the problem with switching the orientation of the intake. Don't think there's enough room to switch to a more conventional layout. Maybe if you go to an electric water pump and move the power steering, reengineer the thermostat, come up with new mount for AC....

You need at least a 6.0L block to use the L92 heads, LS4's are 5.3's. Our bore is too small.

damn..

DAMNIT... why cant some super trillion dollar fuggin company like edelbrock or even GMPP make us a intake manifold, throttle bodys, headers, cams!!!!!!!!!

why? Guess there arent enough ls4's out there.

However,

There is that one guy who did the ls1/2 i think swap into a 97-03 grand prix. He used the ls4 front acessories setup. not sure what he had to "re-engineer" cuz i cant find the link to save my life. Anywho its good thinkin... We keep this up and somone is bound to hear are rants! Maybe.........

I like the idea of just ditching DOD, and running a FAST intake.

It looks like it will probably fit in my car. I put about 2-2.5 inches of wood on top of the intake manifold studs where the stock engine cover goes and the hood still shut. Another 3/4 inch piece didnt fit, but we only need 9.61 inches from the top of the valley cover. Someone else can measure too, but I think I'll be ordering that soon depending if I can find it for a decent price. Anyways if it doesn't fit I will put it in my truck lol.

the problem isnt ditching the dod, there is a LOT more issues preventing this to work.

I just came across this and wonder if there would be any way to get this to work on our cars. I haven't looked closely enough at a DOD valley cover to see if its possible.

Actually $280, the $200 is for the valley cover that is machined to accept the 90* adapter. The 90* adapter is like $80 extra.

I wonder if you could just send them a VLOM(DOD valley cover assy) and have them machine that for their adapter.

Doesn't look like it would work with the LS4 valley cover. No provision to supply oil to the DOD solenoids.
