Are you sure that passage for the DOD oiling wasn't preserved with the Katech adapter? If you look at the pictures, it sure looks like its a good possibility:

Instead of a TB adapter anyone think about the 3bolt Drive-by-wire TB (i think its vortec off a truck)?

The tbss tb is 90 that one is like 76-78 or something. I think the newer trucks with 5.3s are also 90, but not 3 bolt. 12580760
