Some (Montes?) reported here that theirs was set at 125. I've gone just over 140 (maybe 141) in my Imp before I had to let off due to nighttime traffic. C&D reported 154mph during their first test of the Impala.

Yeah, tuning will improve the drivability - especially if you are doing a few mods, and give you a few extra HP.
I've set the governor on the GXP to 318 MPH, the max value.

diablo predator sets it to 155mph... our tires are only rated for 168mph anyway...
BUT... their dealer software (CMR) allows you to do anything and everything... just like HP Tuners, and more!!

I would not go over 160 unless my life depended on it for some reason. For now my current engine swap is set 112

That REALY SUX because from 55 I can hit the speed governor before I pass two cars at the same time, or a single semi. On some of the roads around here the traffic on the two lane roads is kind of sparse but consistent. So I mite get a chance to pass once every 10 min. I drive 50 min each direction. If I can go over 112 on a pass I could get around people quicker and not panic on coming traffic.

Speed limiter change is really simple using HPT. My '05 GXP came stock with a 225 kmh (140 mph) limiter. Haven't taken it over 160 kmh because I'd like to keep my license - we have radar everywhere these days.
