Would I be able to replace my stock amp with an aftermarket alpine 5 channel amp and still use the stock wiring? If so does anybody have a wiring diagram?

Yea I'd imagine you'd have to wire it up as if you didn't already have an amp in there I don't think you could just pull the other one out and put the other one right in it's place, if that's what you mean. Are you changing out speakers or adding anything or just changing the amp?

just changing the amp it's only 150 watts more than what the bose amp is rated. The stock speakers aren't top of the line by any means but they're better than 95% of other cars stock speakers. Dunno, just wanted a little more sound with out spending any money. Just can't ever have your cake and eat it too!

I'm pretty happy with the Bose speakers as is. I just added a JL 12" with a small Alpine amp and I'm more than happy with the sound.

i just installed my jl audio cleansweep last weekend and its ok so far. however, the only thing i dont like is that you need to mount and use the volume control **** that comes with it or you will hear a hissing noise out of the speakers at low volume. the reason i got a cleansweep is because of the onstar harness and steering wheel controls but now i am wandering if i should have just changed the headunit cause that hiss is goin to **** me off. just my 2 cents.

What's this cleansweep thing have to do with the onstar and steering wheel controls? You can easily retain those features with an aftermarket HU.

yeah i understand you can but i didnt want the expense for the onstar harness + the pac2 interface for the steering wheel controls + the aftermarket deck + mounting kit....etc. so i installed the cleansweep so i could run my amp and dont have to f*ck with the onstar & ****. plus i got the cleansweep cheap (used). thats what the cleansweep has to do with it.

yea, it's fine if you didn't want to put out the extra cash. however, before i switched out the stock HU, i just used a generic $15 line out converter, and it sounded fine to me. no hissing noises either. now i'm no audiophile by any means, so perhaps my view is biased, but the stock bose with my amp and JL 12" with the line out converter sounded pretty damn good. even better now that i've swapped out the stock HU.

a $15 loc doesnt give you 8-volt (RMS) line-level outputs and that is what sold me on the cleansweep. it sounds a hell of a lot better than my premier deck did in my old car that was 6 volt rms. of course now that you swapped your headunit its gonna sound better now cause you are getting more power out than the stock headunit. for the $ i paid for the cleansweep i am very impressed for sound quality and keeping the stock deck. now that i have had it for a couple weeks i really dont notice the hiss...its only when the volume is damn near off but as soon as you turn it up at all its gone. i would recommend the cleansweep.

now back to the cleansweep for cajunduby's ss if you do go that route i have the stock wiring diagram at the amp if you need it.
