thermostat
I'm looking to get a lower temp thermostat. Should I get a 180 degree or 160 degree? I've heard the ls4s like to run a little hotter and that a 160 degree thermostat would mess the computer up. Is this true?

187 is what I heard but I swear its 195. I'm going to get a 160 and have my fans readjusted again. With a 160 T state you will need to reset your stock fan settings or else you will defeat the purpose of a quicker opening T stat. When I replace mine I'm going to drop that sucker into a boiling pot of water to see when it opens.
Here is a link http://www.easyperformance.com/ for you to check out. Look at the T stat article under the tech section for some dyno results and related info.

2007 MCSS stock thermostat is a 187*. Going 180* is a waste. Just reprogram your fan on time with HP Tuners program. 160* Is too cold unless your running a turbo or blower. Save your money and time for a useful mod. There is all kinds of threads about this. As Taz says do a search! P.s. look on the factory thermostat it says 86* C = 187* F. Trust me on this one i wasted the time and money i know for next time.

$30 for damn near the same look as opposed to a couple hundred dollars. Well worth it in my opinion. Especially with gas approaching $5 per gallon. I like my throttle body spacer, I don't have any dyno numbers, and prob a waste of money. To each their own. Don't knock it till you try it. We all learn from each others mistakes, thats one of the perks of this forum. Also Nacho if you look at my post it says 180* is a waste not 160*. I said 160* isn't really nessecary unless your using forced induction where heat and detonation comes into play. But hey what do I know? I only work on cars and trucks for a living.

no need to change your t-stat... 160 is no good... will cause issues... and the stock t-stat is 187*....
just get a tune to adjust your fan power % and you'll be golden...
I adjusted my fans, and even in 90* heat/humidity, my ECT hasn't gotten above 197*...
our engines like to be hotter than 180* degrees anyway...
leave it as is...
