Well, this is the 6th time i have taken the car in for the vibration issue between 55-65. they changed tires, new wheel hub, balanced them and something else, cant remember....its been too many times. This problem wont be fixed and its a HUGE headache. so today i finally had enough and called a lawyer that deals with the lemon laws. Apparently the lemon law doesnt apply to me because i purchased the car used and it was past the 1 year service date....BUT, he wants to look at my paperwork because he thinks GM breached the service contract by selling the car with the problem and labeling it as GM certified. He said i may be able to get some compensation from GM for all the BULLS**T iv been going through (having the car into the dealer 6 times in 2 months).

i have the worst luck in the world.

 

Did they look at the tie rods?

im not sure if they looked at the tie rods or not....but it seems like if this problem was fixable, any decent mechanic should be able to spot it.

 

I will second the tie rods. I replaced one of mine when I had the motor out. At 8500 miles on the odometer, too.

 

re-update

i called the previous owner of the car and he informed me that when he turned the car in, one of the service techs took the car out for a test drive and got into a minor accident. in the accident the rim was all bent to ****, the suspension was jacked up, and they had to replace most of the suspension components in the front.

they still havent fixed the problem, when i stepped into the car and started it up, the driver information center started dinging at me telling me to service traction system, service ABS and service stability system. Also, the steering wheel vibrated the whole way home. i got home and looked at the paperwork and noticed they said "could not replicate problem specified". On the top of the paperwork it says the miles that were on the car when i dropped it off and when i picked it up, it just so happens that the mileage in and mileage out didnt change, they never drove the car.

 

I work at a dealer had the same issue had 3 A techs look at it the 3rd one called me over and shook my driver side front wheel and it made a lite knocking noise in the rack he said something with a worm gear getting loose what ever he did made my steering wheel feel as tight as the day I picked up the car I about forgot how it should feel.

 

It's a HARMONIC/ISOLATION issue in the alum subframe chassis in the front end. I bought my 2008 impala new with 61 miles on it, and it's been doing it ever since. There is NO fix from what I have been told by the HIGHER ups in GM. Deal with it or buy another car. That is the response that I got from GM, and they wonder why no one wants to buy there cars anymore. HA

 

i actually just got told the same thing today....but i let him know that the problem is gonna get fixed because they cant sell a car that has known issues and tell the person, too bad they are stuck with it.

i'll be going back to dodge....or i might venture to ford after im done with this crap....i'll never touch another GM product again.

thats exactly what it is too...junk. the service rep called me back yesterday and told me that it goes away after a few miles of driving, the tires just have to warm up...yes, a guy on the phone is telling me what MY car is doing...he shouldnt be a service rep, he should replace ms. cleo and start telling people the future. i asked him why it did it for a 30 mile trip the whole way. when he couldnt answer it he would say "i cant really comment on that". The dealership already ruled out that the tires were not the problem...they took the wheels off of a different GXP and put them on mine and "drove it" and the problem was still there, again....the retarded service rep goes "i cant really comment on that". i finally got sick of this half wit and said "thats fine, my lawyer can deal with you guys".

they clearly cant fix it, they ruled one thing out saying theres no way its the tires.....and now they are blaming it on the tires and saying i have to live with it.

it will be a cold day in hell before i buy another GM product. LOVE the car...hate the service/problems. really sad they couldnt fix the problem and it came down to getting a lawyer....doesnt say much for GM.

mine did the same thing, hooked up my scan tool, and it was a wheel bearing, maybe replace wheel bearing, maybe from the accident the knuckle was never replaced and its still bent,, i dunno thats what happened to me and i fixed the problem my self, did they ever replace the wheel bearing?

of course a dealership wont put aftermarket wheels on, we lucky that there parts changers can do that change parts!!!
its interesting that if you put aftermarket wheels on this car no more vibration, could it be the factory wheel is bent, what about looking at the half shafts/cv joints, i have seen cars take a hit in the suspension we replace all visable parts, wheel alignment, still shaking, i took out the half shaft sent it out they rebuild reblance, vibration gone, maybe its your problem too
this is a weird situation

 

this has gotten past the point of taking it in and getting it fixed. the dealership is sticking to their guns saying that if they drive it for 2 miles the problem goes away (which is a straight up lie). i drove it to jiu jitsu class which is 20 or so miles away and it vibrated the whole time down and back. GM makes me do this LOL

 

iam a 1st dan in hapkido, i saw it i thought i would throw it out there for ya, well then stick to your gunsuntil they fix the problem, before pontiac found out my problem i was in there every week on monday, drove them nuts called my boss complaining about me
well it took a gallon of antifreeze on my carpet for them to see i was right and it was a heater core, and then they **** up both door trim panles, the b-pillar trim panle, and they fucked up my bumper
if it was me i would be in there every week until it was fixed
