Default Question About LS4 Intake Manifold

I want to know if any of the other LSx intake manifolds will fit onto the 5.3 LS4 block and will adapt to a IMPALA SS car. Price is no object but I don't want to change the engine.

Port and polish your own and you wont have any issues. Also with the right company doing it you could have as much flow as those other intakes are very close.

If money isn't a concern, you could probably get a FAST cathedral port intake manifold on this engine if you modified the power steering pump resevoir location and did some heavy modification to the alternator bracket (in addition to the other stuff layed out in other posts). For me, the cost/effort/benefit equation pointed to the LS6 manifold, and most of my posts are about that swap. That equation could work out differently for you.

The LS4 intake manifold is crippled by an approximately 50mm throttle neck, a small plenum, small and nearly uniform intake runners (the LS6 runners taper down to increase port velocity), and large support posts. For the forseeable future, having Fasterproms or someone else port your LS4 intake is the only bolt on solution. They open up the plenum and intake runners a lot, but the neck still chokes down to about 2/3rds the size of the throttle body.

A few things. Fasterproms offers porting for our intakes. It will provide about 8-10hp gains. The bottom line is our intake is horrible and compared to ANY other ls intake. Even a ported one is crap compared to an unmodified ls1,2,6 intake. ls1 and 6 intakes can be put on our cars but it will require some modification. There are MANY other treads that discribe all this. If you have any questions i would suggest looking through those threads but feel free to pm me

This question has been stuck in my head, and I don't see why not. WilliamGT was able to get together a set of headers, and if anyone was willing to find a speed shop looking to grow their business a kit shouldn't be a problem.

I've also been looking around and fuel rails, and there are some that use AN fittings and a braided steel line to connect the two banks, so they would clear a manifold of any height. As clean as your car looks, I think they would be great looking. This site is one of the first Google kicked up:

http://www.msperformanceonline.com/14106.html

I'm also wondering if an ls2 fuel rail would work. I haven't found a good post on here comparing the fuel rails (some poor guy asked and had no responses in the Gen IV section), but I have read in a couple forums that the LS2 uses shorter injectors than the LS6 (but no really reliable source). If anyone knows anyone with an LS2 car, it would be worth looking.

All the kit would need is a modified LS6 manifold, a modified or non-DOD valley cover, a TB adapter or a new TB that bolts up, a fuel rail, and all the hardware, fittings and vacuum lines.

i know this might sound dumb but has anyone tried to put the ls4 intake on any other ls motor? just curious what the power drop would be.
