Default 31 spline Detroit Sof-Locker

Bought this from a buddy, who advised that this is a sof-locker. He intended to use it (installed ring gear and bearings) but decided to go with a spool. He removed the ring gear but left the bearings on, no races. This is a brand new unit, never run. This unit goes for $430+ w/o shipping. Asking 325 shipped.

Will this fit a 9"? And what is the difference between soft locker and a regular locker?

Yes, it was made for a 9" (forgot to put that into the description here, but its in the one on Ebay). The soft locker is the same as a regular locker (strength-wise), but it has a 'softer' (less noisy) spring.
