What do you mean how? We made a jig first so we knew it was the same length and angle etc. We cut the pipe, inserted a thickwalled mild steel pipe on the inside DIA, put on our new end, and welded it all up. The pipe on the inside is to make it atleast as strong as it was when it was new. Everything will work fine.

I guess I'm too late for the Madman dipstick.. Could you send me some pics to killer98z@yahoo.com because I have never seen one and I was about to buy a Lokar for mine.
Thanks,
Matt

It was modified because one side of the car has stripped bolt holes for the trans mount. But when we modified it we wanted it to be able to go back into a stock car with no issues.
There are 4 bolts for the cross member, 2 each side, but the one side has no threads in my car. Thats why the cross member was modified on the one side so I could weld the plate to the car, and then be able to pull out the one big bolt(new added one) and drop the rest out for removal. It will still work just fine on a stock or modified car, just modified it to work on mine, but now I am going with a Powerglide and cant use this.
Does ths help
